I found myself laughing just now over that drink in the plastic solo cup. Those are the things that stick with me forever. Still makes me giggle and smile.

Happy grandfathers day to you sir. I know your day was blessed.

We are not huge on gifts but my son and daughter each picked me out son funnies and thought I’d share. My daughter got me the t-shirt and my son matching hats.
They each show their personalities to a T.

That baby is going to a tough cookie. Beautiful! Thank you for sharing and hope your day was full.

For anyone pulling their motor. Little trick where you do not have to pull the fan, rad, front clip, headlights, nothing. You can even leave the hood if you’re careful, just remove windshield cowl and windshield wipers.

    Saves hours.

Summit, $7-$15 bucks. 4 barrel carb lift plate. Trans and driveshaft can remain untouched as well.

Removing the cowl/wipers is an amazing trick for my Mazdaspeed6 as well. I pull it out the top vs removing the front clip like everyone else. Its a very tight squeeze with the transfer case hanging off the back, but it works. Bonus: I don't have to recharge my A/C system when it's back together.

Agreed. I don’t charge it either!! Rad and fans staying is rad also. Nice

Yep. I leave all that crap as is. My coolant overflow bottle can stay too and its mounted top-front-center of the radiator on the Speed. One small mishap though and I could pop a hole in it. Patience is key.

    2.3l build.

Probably the worst flowing head in history on the flow bench.

So this is a focus RS block, so we closed the deck, keyed the crank, crank gear, and pulley. We also welded up a crack plate to reinforce and transfer load outward away from the weak point where these blocks crack. It’s actually been working along with a JE pro Seal head gasket

    Nice work. CSS plate?

The MZR DISI in the mazdaspeed 3/6 and the CX-7 was the precursor engine to the current ecoboost 2.3's. These blocks are semi-closed deck and don't suffer the same block cracking issues as the RS block. 600, 700, 800whp mazdaspeeds are becoming more common these days and still using the stock block. Some even on stock head/cams, albeit 40+psi of boost to reach those numbers with a PT6466.

I had my crank keyed and I pinned my cams in the shop when I had the alignment tools in place. I never have to replace friction washers ever again or worry about slipped timing.

My head flows similarly crappy, probably even worse, than the RS head. I intend to send it off for port work in the coming months if I dont feel like doing it myself and I'll be upgrading cams sometime down the road. I was going to upsize the exhaust valves (30->32), but they're on backorder. So screw it. I'll stick with the stock size for now (35/30). Probably for the best anyways since bigger isn't always better.

It seems I may gave derailed this thread a tad. My apologies.

Let's get back to the RMB madness.
