    Making my own intake!

Soooooooo......... I'm thinking of making my own AFe replica intake. I'm not sure if anyone has tried this but when I'm done I will post pictures up. I don't think paying 500 dollars for a intake that could be made under 150.00. I will be using silicone hoses to reduce some heat, I will use some imagination ofcourse. I f anyone has any ideas, I am open to any comments as long as they are not negative which I'm sure someone will be the lucky one! Thanks!

Hey if you have the skills, material and time, go for it. I take it, you are going to buy existing filters and just make the housing and tubes?

IIRC we had this AlaBAMA fan that threatened (for a long time) to make what he called The Chicken Scoop. No idea if he ever made it, though. I don't think he is here any more.

I will be using some intake tubing and silicone tubing, and and I see that the drivers side has an opening so I just might do a cold air intake.

You might want to check out the Banks and Air Raid intakes then. Those might be a better models to copy because they have front facing cold air inlets. I think the Banks is just a cover for the existing air box. Not sure about the Air Raid. I will say that almost no one believes the intakes help the Ecoboost much. The stock air box is said to have plenty of flow for the motor. Sounds like a fun project, though. Pictures are required. . .

I took out my driver side headlight for easier access but when doing 11-14 in the instructions, (I had a stage 2 AFE) the spot where the inlet pops out, the whole dang side pops out. Into fender. Pull it out. Then instead of small hole or s&b bigger hole, you have a HIGE hole for your "cold" part of the air intake. I think I have a pic or 3 of it somewhere on this forum. Probably take me ten years to find them. Sorry
