People on forums typically do research and also turn their own wrenches and know **** about fixing or upgrading their vehicles. You trying to generalize people on this forum to the general public is where the line gets crossed. I don't care how long you have worked as a parts guy or how much you sell in parts a month, that's good for you...which means the computer tells you the correct part to sell people. When the manual states a certain part number, I will continue to use that part number until there is a new part that supersedes it.

To you, the general public are complete morons, which is why they will go to the parts store to buy certain items instead of doing the research and ordering for cheaper online. 75% of the members on this forum do not fall into that category.
Show me where I called anyone a moron... Ill wait, but in the mean time ill go quote the 2 or 3 times you called parts guys dip****s.

Oh wait, i never called anyone a moron, I just said generally most people get wrong parts because they give the wrong information. you are correct, sp534 is the right plug, but in fords eyes it isnt anymore. just because a manual says something printed the year the truck was bought doesnt mean ford hasnt found issues with it, decided to spend the time and money to produce a new plug. no one cares that youre probably older than dirt and so set in your ways you cant grasp the concept of a part being made better than before by the COMPANY WHO PRODUCED THE ORIGINAL ONES IN THE FIRST PLACE. I never called anyone a moron but I could certainly point one out in this thread

youre right. You assumed my position on the general public is that they are all morons, which is wrong. I never said that. I simply said people give wrong information. You are the one who relates wrong information with people being morons.

I may. I am on call that weekend so depending on how busy it is I may or may not. I live pretty damn close about 10 minutes away. I need to go to more events.

Curious, what is the navigator console swap??

And it's my understanding that the 542's are the 2.7 standard issue plugs. I run them at .026" and everything is honky dory.

I have been wondering if the 580's at .026" are better/ same / worse.

Replaced mine with 580's few weeks ago at .028. Will see how it goes towing a car hauler with ford ranger on it MI (900 miles) so far they seem ok.

My gut feeling is with all the plug numbers being tossed around (542, 550, 580), in general, all the plugs will do just fine.

If Ford has 580 as it's new 3.5 plug, I may give them a go next year.

^^ winner winner chicken dinner! A man speaks with some common sense! Lets face it, a plug will not set high HP/TQ Numbers or performance goals just on its own.... They are infact a supporting roll in a line of things, tuner, intake, air, tires, supporting mods ect......

But I too was about to say something similar as to what you just said "My gut feeling is with all the plug numbers being tossed around (542, 550, 580), in general, all the plugs will do just fine"

Watch out for the 542 replacements “578’s”. They are hotter plug and not iradium. I tried the 578’s just for fun and lost 2* of timing. Not good.
