It's almost like saying if you buy ANY F150 Truck, you can tow 5000#

It's a truck. Not a pretend truck. It can pull 5000lbs down the road if you mount the ball on it.

By the way, when I was just a pup, bumper mounted balls on old man trucks were common. So were chains holding the tailgate.

How do I find out if my truck has 53A, 53B, or 53C? Nothing showing on the window sticker.

Does "Distributing" mean with a weight distribution hitch?

If so, it lines up with what folks on the RV threads say. Something like "The manufacturer limits you to towing 5000 without a weight distribution hitch."

But you can tow up to the max towing capacity WITH a weight distribution hitch.

Keeping in mind that cargo capacity usually limits the truck to less than maximum towing weight.

There was some discussion on the other forum about the 5000 lb weight limit without WDH. It appears to be a hitch limitation and not a truck limitation. Apparently someone asked Curt or Reese or one of those hitch companies and they said it was Fords hitch.

Those numbers on the hitch have nothing to do with what your truck is rated to tow. They are simply the maximum ratings for the hitch.

    7700 # for a 2x4, 7600 # for a 4x4 as long as you have the tow package.
