I posted this before reading all the other posts. But yes, with a new strategy, most custom tunes will need to be updated. This was my first thought the moment I heard it on the news. I even debated about refusing any reprogramming, but this could be a "ticking time bomb"; and it may get done behind my back in the future.

Try telling the tuner that it is due to a "recall" that they reprogrammed your computer. They may be more sympathetic then.

If you read the panel on the right side, 5* is saying Ford is expected to do the recalls for Ecoboosts sometime in the 2nd Quarter of 2019 (April - June). AND ... near the bottom they are suggesting that they may NOT have an update available until SCT and HP have the new strategy code added in their database. So I will probably wait until later to get it done.

I don't want my truck back to stock and wait 6-12 months before I can have my truck retuned.

I have had my '16 do some weird stuff a couple of times and get stuck in 3rd and stuck in 5th, to the point I was sitting still almost unable to move. I always wondered if that was lead frame related. Then poof, all fine and for a long time not repeatable.

Mikedick77 .. I also have a 2013 built in Oct 2012 and was told by my dealer (we got an excellent dealer here that takes care of their customers) that Ford does not have the re-flash program ready yet for the 13's. But during the same call I got DW's Fusion scheduled for the air bag issue & also a steering issue recall.

If I'm reading things right, they say the cause of the 1st gear downshift is loss of speed sensor signal.
My guess is the updated programming will change what the PCM does if/when it fails to receive data from the speed sensor. Probably will leave vehicle in whatever gear it's in at time of failure.
I don't think that fixes whatever is causing the real issue, but it's better than a first gear downshift at 70mph.

Agree!!!!!! Stock S---S But if I don't and if it does drop to 1st and tears things up I hope they don't find the tune (no resets, starts) after I put stock tune back on(after xmsn failure) , that they won't warranty it
