    1st Tow Experience w/eco

    2018 F150 Super Crew 4x4 3.5 Eco

My trailer is a 7400 pound enclosed car trailer. I have towed this trailer with an Escalade and Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi. OMG the eco just blows them away. It's not even close. It's incredible what a six-cylinder can do today. Like the commercial says, "No More White Knuckles". Never lacked for power even on some pretty good long inclines. From a stop or on the flats it is effortless. Motor never sounded like it was working hard like my other vehicles did. So much more pleasurable to tow with. Gas mileage, however, was almost exactly the same. 11.4 mpg. Great Job Ford

I dunno. That's about how my experience was towing around 7500 lbs with my 2.7. I was running a tow tune though. This was a truck on a trailer so there wasn't the aerodynamic challenge that an enclosed trailer gives you either.

Coming from a 2011 with 5.0 to a 2018 with 3.5 the difference pulling around 7000 lbs is definitely worth noting. The 3.5 pulls up to speed with so little effort. Fuel mileage is very similar with a slight nod to the 3.5. Downhill Engine braking goes to the 5.0 though. Using the 10 speed trans and taking out some of the upper gears helps tremendously.
