Anyone using Motorcraft Full Synthetic Oil?

    Hi all, new guy.

I've used Motorcraft Synthetic Blend 5w-20 on my past 2 F150's with great results.

They were both OHC engines that made it to 180k and over 200k miles prior to me trading them off with no engine issues.

I am trying to plan ahead and see what I want to do with my recently acquired 2016 2.7 Ecoboost. I know it requires 5w-30. I think I am leaning the synthetic route due to it being turbocharged.

Many will say you can buy better oils for less money, but I trust Motorcraft Oil and Oil Filters. Normally the Motorcraft Synthetics are hard to find or too expensive, but Rock Auto is actually carrying the oil and the filters. Even with shipping, it comes out to under $40 when I buy enough supplies for two oil changes at a time.

Is anyone using the full synthetic by MC? Likes, dislikes?

I used MC full Synthetic on my 2006 FX4 4.0 V6 Ranger and it ran like a champ until the day I sold it with 150k miles. I will be doing the same with my new F150.

I don't know why I do this, but for all the other fluids in the truck, I use the MC stuff.. For the engine I have always used the Pennzoil Platinum oil.. Even going back to my 97 F150 with the 5.4 and that had 255,000 miles and running very strong when I traded it for the 13 F150 Eco and that now has almost 75,000 miles on it. Oil changes between 4-5K miles with a MC oil filter..

But so far on the 13, I've only used the MC stuff from the dealer parts department for the trans, trans case, diffs and even the anti freeze on the 13..

In the end, use what works best for you and you'll probably be just fine..

My theory is, Ford wouldnít put their name on the bottle if it wasnít good stuff or good for their engines. Iíve used a bunch of different oil brands since I bought my 2011 eco new but Iíve gone back to Ford motor craft oil synthetic and filters the last few oil changes. Iím at 165k with no issues.

Check your local Walmart for the Ford Motor craft oil. Thatís where Iíve been getting it from. $32.xx OTD for 6 quarts and a motorcraft filter. Hard to beat that price.

Is that full synthetic or a blend at Walmart? I have always used the blend from Walmart for about that price, but I have yet to see a Walmart carry the full synthetic line.

MC makes good stuff all around. I have read the oil shears pretty quickly though. There's better stuff for a bit more price.

Itís the full synthetic. I was surprised at the price being itís the full synthetic. Before this I was buying either Castrol or Mobil 1 synthetic at Tractor Supply as I get tax exemption and the prices were always pretty good. My neighbor is the one who told me to check Walmart as he thought he saw full synthetic for cheap. He was right and thatís what Iíll be using from now on unless they stop stocking it.

Since Iím getting pretty high up in mileage, Iím changing my oil every 5k now instead of 7500-8000. I canít see any synthetic oil out there being worn out in only 5k. With that being said I guess Iím not too worried if Mobil 1 lasts a bit longer once your over 8k on change intervals.
