    I pussed out! After watching trans fluid changing on YouTube I decided it was not something I wanted to do lying on my back under the truck so I'm having it flushed at the Ford dealership. $180 guess I'll just have to get over the assault on my manhood and do it myself ego.

    83K miles with a lot of them pulling 7K lbs travel trailer, thinking it was time.

    I did a filter change and 7 Qts. of oil on my transmission last week. Wasn’t happy with how black the fluid was for 48k miles and no towing. Are they changing the filter with a flush? If so, $180 seems like a good price as I paid $100 doing it myself and there’s probably still 8 qts. of old oil still in the transmission. This is the metal shavings on the magnet.

    I've read quite a few different places that the dye they use in the LV fluid from motocraft is weak. So it discolors quickly. The fluid itself is pretty stout from anaylysis have shown.

    I'm about to do mine here soon as well and add a bigger trans cooler. I think i'm going to use amsoil this time and see how that does. Just put some in my t case.

    @miniceptor86 I disagree!

    You showed wisdom and mercy on one's self.

    Especially if the dealer's method enables a FULL replacement of fluids. (they have the equipment)

    I'll be doing it at 30k and will gladly pay to have it done thoroughly.

    Well they gave me two options, flush by connecting to the cooler lines or drop the pan, many Quarts or few Quarts. Service writer said the filters were pretty robust so I took the flush. I'll pick my projects, brakes easy peasy. 30 bucks for an oil change no brainer, let them do it. Change the diffs another easy peasy.

    now a question, why do they seem to run so much better after an oil change? Or is it just me?
    Cheers,

    Sorry. I think it's the weather.

    Although it has only rained twice this winter, the first time was 26 days in a row, the second for 35 and counting.

    I need sunshine

    That would do it. We’ve had a couple of weeks of everyday moisture but nothing like that.
