    Trade Ram 1500 for EcoBoost?

    Hello, new to the site.

I have a 2008 Ram 1500, 5.7L, QC, 3.92 gears, nice tonneau cover, DVD player, lifted with 35's, all black.

We're looking at a Toy Hauler, dry weight 5800lbs.

I was looking at Ram 2500's but I like 1/2 ton trucks. Just yesterday I started looking at the F150 with the EcoBoost. Has anyone traded a Ram for the F150? If so how does it compare? I know I'm asking on a Ford site so I expect some bias, but I asked on a Ram site too.

I'm researching how these trucks stack up, especially in towing bumper pull TTs.

My wife really likes our Ram and I do too, but I'm looking for what will tow the safest.

I don't know of anyone off hand that did the trade but.....

I test drove 5 different Rams and they were all NICE trucks. They just never were as quiet or felt as powerful as my current truck.

    Welcome to the forum!

I had an 08 ram 1500 with the tow package and 5.7 hemi before. I am definitely happier with the f150 with ecoboost. Miss the v8 sound. But the efficiency makes up for it

I traded a 2012 Dodge 3500 cummins for my Ecoboost but am now only towing about 5000 lbs occasionally. ,I did it mainly for comfort, the seating in the Dodge didn't agree with me and the F150 is rated well for a 1/2 ton tower. I still think the diesel is the way to go if you are towing very heavy and often. Very happy with the Ford so far.

I traded a 08 Ram with the tow package, it was a good truck but didn't have the pep the ecoboost has. Also we have a 4 month old and there wasn't much room in that ram as to the ford. It's all preference between ford Chevy and dodge, as long as its American made I'm good with it.

I came from an 09 Laramie, it was a great truck, decent power, comfortable ride. I was actually looking at a new Ram with the 8spd before I traded. Test drove the 6spd version and was very impressed with the interior and the whole truck really.
A buddy of mine had an eco and had been talking it up so i figured Id give it a shot so i test drove what is now sitting in my garage. I dont regret it one bit, its an awesome truck.

I just traded a 2013 Rm 5.7L crewcab SXT in for my 2013 F-150 lariat, screw in silver, and i couldnt be happier
the power in the turbo six is far far better than the ram, the only thing better about the ram was straight up cornering, and gas mileage, i was getting 12.8L - 13.4L per 100kms, to my 15.0L in the ford doing 120kms per hour from grande prairie to edmonton........i drive this road every weekend, and the ram had better mileage

I traded down from an 04.5 cummins with 35s to basically a "car" truck xl scab 4x4 ecoboost. Pulls my small trailer, 5500 lbs or so, comparably except on the highway. Hopefully some e range tires will stiffen up the soft ride.

I would say if you have the dodge paid for keep it. If it doesn't tow right lower the tire size. If you're planning to tow a lot, go the diesel route. If it's occasional and you have $ to burn make the switch. There will be some good deals as we approach the new body style release.
