That step has me IN the bed of the truck far more often. The reason?
Because I no longer try to put things ONLY in places I can reach by leaning in or over. Instead, I now pack everything very organized and inside of a bed-toolbox that is underneath the tonneau cover.

Bed of truck is far more tidy and I gladly step up when called for. As old and rickety as I am getting, it's worth it's weight.........

I love my old man step. And with a full BedRug, no problem laying out or crawling around to reach stuff.

It really is one of my favorite things, it's one of the first things I show people when they check the truck out lol.

    ^^^This.

When I go fishing, I definitely do NOT want to accidentally lose my keys overboard.

I'll heavily second the tailgate step love.
Three years ago, we sold our old house and moved into our new house (a mile away) just weeks after I had my ACL reconstructed. If it wasn't for my Howie Long/Chevy dubbed 'man-step', I would never have been able to help with the move.

You and me both! If he's talkin' football, I will listen and respect. But if he's representin' the bowtie, then I'll politely ignore.

My favorite thing about my truck is being such a sleeper and the surprised faces I see when people try me at a light. Usually I'm not racing, just trying to get around their slow ass.

Favorite feature - probably the tailgate step and midget stripper pole. Use them all the time when I'm loading stuff.
