I know the SPD and Reische have a $50+ tstat, but I was wondering if anyone knew the part # for a Motorad or Stant. I'm pretty sure that 2011-2016 2.7/3.5/5.0 all have the same tstat, but I can't seem to pull anything but a 180 when i search local parts store websites. Looking to see if anyone has come across a 170 I can get locally. Thanks in advance!

Where are you located? I have a new one in a box that I don’t need.

Why would you rather have the 170 over the 180 ?

Because my 180 is currently running 205° when everyday driving. 195° idling. Towing is around 215-220°. And it’s not even summer yet. I just don’t want it that hot. I ran a 160 before this 180, and it never got about 185°, I think a 170 will be the sweet spot. Plus I’m running a tune and a larger cac. Just want a little cooler temps for the upcoming months.

I don't understand how a lower tstat keeps the coolant from getting to the same temp. I understand how it would get to the same temp 'slower'.

Idk, I’ve experimented with a 160 and 180. And according to my SCT gauge the 160 coolant level never got over 185 whether towing, heat, idling…….whatever. I just fell like 185-195 is the sweet spot. I know lower temps may cause less condensation burnoff but I just don’t like a 180 tstat producing 195-225 temps or I would’ve never changed the factory tstat

Did the 180 create those temps immediately after the install? Or does it run hotter after you've had it for a while.
I'm just wondering if it's not operating as well as it did brand new.

The 180 which installed in feb/March usually ram 195-205 all the time. I thought it was defective and went with another 180 form rock auto and still got same temps.

I’m curious if your 160 was just stuck open. Giving you hope that it actually lowered overall ECT.
The 160 was a Mishimoto and was easily the lowest temps I’ve ever ran. 175–185. Idk that it ever hit 190. Keep in mind that was still winter and early spring months. I feel like the 160 did what it was supposed too. But a little too cool for me.
