Hi,
My check engine light came on today, and I tried hooking my buddies code reader up (Autel Maxiscan MS300). I connect the reader with the ignition off, the screen shows OBDII. Turn the ignition ahead, but not on, and LINK... shows on the screen for about 10 seconds then ERROR! shows. I checked the fuse that runs the connection port and the cig lighter (if other forums are correct) and the fuse is OK (#24 I believe)

There are 66K km on the truck. Any ideas how to get this code off without taking it to the dealer? Thanks in advance for any help!

You need a newer code reader. I had the same issue with my 2011. I bought an Autel 319 and it worked fine. The new trucks have a different protocol of OBD II. A friend had a Jeep Compass (2006) and I couldn't read it either. New reader was able to read and clear fault codes.
