I had the same thing on my 17’ 3.5. I took it into a shade tree mechanics because he said he could fix it quickly. 3.5 weeks later I got it back and blew the motor. Luckily the motor was under warranty. But I’d take it in and make sure your service it as you should.

Only on cold start my 2011 EB “clatters” for 2 or 3 seconds.
Why?
Some guys have had the luck of the irish and driven theres 100k+ miles after hearing the rattles,

others get the even worse P0016 timing code and then it's fubar.

If you're not under warranty drive it til you get the code or save up $3000 to put new phasers, chains and tensioners and guides etc in.

It's because the Phasers have an oil drain back issue and dry out overnight, there is not enough boundary lubrication left on them, they clatter til they get full oil pressure. This clatter works hard on the timing chain and "stretches" it. Eventually throwing off the timing enough to rob power and put it into limp.

Try searching for timing chain stretch and phaser replacement. Might want to sit down if this is you first time reading about it.
