Ram Introduces New "Black Express" Model for 2013

July 11, 2013 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - For 2013, Ram has taken one of its most popular models and loaded it with attitude.

The Ram Black Express takes a combination of style, performance, capability and value and transforms into the "baddest-looking" factory-built truck on the market.

The 2013 Ram Black Express is distinguished by its all-black exterior. Starting with 20-inch black aluminum wheels, it also adds a black front fascia with fog lamps, black grille surround with black hex-link inserts, black rear bumper and black Ram's head badges on the grille and tailgate. All body-side badging has been removed.

"Ram Trucks are known for their bold, in-your-face presence," said Reid Bigland, President and CEO – Ram Truck Brand. "The new Black Express takes Ram's aggressive good looks to an all new sinister level by 'blackening out' the entire truck while maintaining a great price."

The Ram Black Express also features premium bi-functional halogen projector headlamps with black bezels, 15 amber LEDs for park/turn/position lamp and three amber LEDs for the side marker. The taillamps also include black finishes and are comprised of 15 red LEDs with three red LEDs for the side markers.

The 2013 Ram Black Express is available in two- and four-wheel-drive models and a choice of regular cab, quad cab or crew cab body styles.

Ram Black Express pricing starts at $26,955, plus $1,095 destination charge.

The 2013 Ram 1500 Black Express will begin reaching dealerships in July 2013.

Nice truck. Can't wait for the 'black' fad to go away.

Good to finally see oems building RCSB trucks that are more than work trucks. This may steal some buyers from the tremor who just want something 'sporty' looking to drive. Those of us planning on modifying know better, though.

Am I missing something? I thought this was an F150 site? Just a thought.
Always good to see what the competition is doing! This is practically Dodge's answer to the Ford Tremor.

Didnt notice it till Wendy pointed it out but that was very poor camera work.

Old thread but you guys are way off. The express competes with the stx. This is just an appearance package. The R/T is what's gonna compete with the tremor

Either way Dodge has been the least dependable, least recommended truck manufacturer in the US for that past, hmm, forever!
I'll put my money down on anything but a Chrysler product thank you.
But in their defense, years ago, they came out with the body style that almost all trucks have in some way tried to copy.
According to Consumer Reports they actually attained a recommended score on the 1500 for the first time that I can think of.

IMO this does compete. Both come with high performance motors, offered in a a regular can wheelbase, with little to no base options. The tradesman is more of a competitor with the stx.

Tradesman and express are pretty much the same thing, just one gets the sport appearance package like the stx does vs xl. But everything I've seen with the tremor shows it being fully loaded, just like the R/T. Express is bare bones, can't even get power seats or floor shifter lol. Plus I've heard around $36-40k for the tremor which puts it starting at least $10k above the express

I could be wrong, but I thought I read the tremor was basically stripped. But they have a lot of available options so you can load them up like an fx4.

Wow, so I reread an article that came out right after press release where it said the truck would have a base of low to mid 30k, now I read a more recent article and it says base will be 38k+!

Not true the black express is really a r/t if you look at the grill, and lights..now all the other express truck are different than the all black express...and that write is a little wrong as the all black can come fully loaded..as i have one purchased in (but its a 2014) dec 13 and only put 1000 miles on it,i am trading it in for my new 2014 ecofx2 all black with the appearance package,i got every option i could.. the 2014 hemi anything is usless if you want to tune or boost it,as dodge has made it so hard to tune, that even Hennessy stop doing them, along with others, and as of now has no plans for even tuning the wildcat either...
so I jumped ship,my last truck was a 05srt10 with a blower loved it,other than this 2014 ram...in fact my last 5 trucks were rams but when they go out of their way to prevent me from doing what i want with my own truck, well #^$$% them, lol

the 2013 and 2014 rams are the first truck to ever make truck of the yr back to back, and i have had great luck with all my rams, now that said the old 5.9 heads cracked between the valves in the cambers..but it didnt hurt the performance all the time, unless like me you ported your own heads, and figured it out the hard way...but they fix that with the release of the R/T heads much thicker area around the water jackets...but during the 80,and early 90's they sucked,lol..
