I started out with a new 2014 FX4 Screw luxury pack in Blue flame. 7200# GVW, 3:55's. Pretty much all options other than Max tow and Apperance pack. Built in November of 2014 and I bought it March of 2015.

Bought the truck from family that work at a dealer, great deal as I was able to get it for less than used. Downside is it was 600miles away. Thankfully, my Uncle delivered it for me.

I had them put 3M on the bumper and do a Spray in liner. They did a great job with both.
Window Sticker

Day I got it.

I already had a 2" AS level for it that I put in a couple of days later
Before

After

The kit came with a 3" rear block, but I figured it would put too much rake back in for my taste.
on level ground, it measures perfectly level. I would have liked a bit of rake, but I address that later on...much later.

Apparently a faulty vacuum pump can make a similar noise to what I’m hearing. It’s a long shot, but I’ll try and confirm this week while waiting on some info for Mr. Brown.

Not the vacuum pump.

Spent some time on it tonight. It really does sound like something in the bottom end. The noise is pretty much non-existent when the engine is cold, but is pretty apparent once it gets up to temp.

Only other thing I can think of at this time is the torque converter, but seems like a long shot given the sound it's making and the "speed" of the sound.

Anyway, I've decided that it will drive me nuts and I need to do something about it.

It's either being traded in or getting a RMB motor (and I'll to a TC at the same time)

Numbers for both options should be in my inbox by EOD Thursday. Then it's time to make a decision.

I'm not going to lie, there is a much harder pull to keep the truck and fix it.

Figured anything out with the cause of your problems or the route to redemption?

#315 ·
No more known about the noise at this time. I may do some more checking this weekend and pull the winch and skid plates just to make sure something isn’t rattling.

Numbers for a new truck don’t make sense at this time, so it’s basically coming down to fixing it and keeping it.

Pulled some more of the add-ons just to make sure it's something in the engine and that appears to still be the case. I can put the stethescope on the oilpan and the noise is very prevalent.

Mr.Brown and I have been in communication. As you would expect he has been extremely helpful in looking at options. Very thankful to have him to reach out to.

I appreciate the kind words. I am always very curious about these types of things. It’s part of what makes me tick. Are you able to confirm if the noise is front or back of the pan? I actually know more people than I can count on one hand that have something going on in the pan. Perhaps identify oil pressure at 1500 rpm when oil is to temp is minimum 30 psi

#318 ·
The plan is to spend some time on it tomorrow. I'm not sure how likely it is, but the noise started right after I did an oil change (Penzoil ultra Platinum and Motocraft filter). Just a guess, but I will swap out the filter and cut it open. I'll also get a oil sample at the same time for Blackstone.

#320 ·
Oil sample off to Blackstone and just letting the truck sit while I figure out what to do with it.

In the meantime picked up what I think is a pretty good deal. 2003 Lincoln Aviator with 100k miles on it. It’s in pretty nice shape, but needs a serious detail and the paint needs some correction.

99% sure I've never actually seen one of these. I have an 05 Explorer with very similar body style and the small tweaks are messing with my eyes. Like when you see butt implants on skinny thighs... its so close to being normal/ familiar, but somethings different.

Care to share??? Waiting means we plenty of time to disclose all the deets ;)

Awesome work! My second thoughts when I saw it the first time was "man I want to polish that thing so bad, would be such a great turn around" My CDO is very pleased to see these results. Would you mind posting an overall pic when you finish it?

What machine and pads did you use? And have you used the fast finish before? I have not but it seems easy to apply and I've read 6-12 months of durability.

Crazy work week and no time to touch the Lincoln other than drive it. Needed a break and decided to take next week off. Hope to swap back in the stock CAC and Exhaust on the truck and then drop it off at the dealer. They want to get me a "warranty" motor or at least try. The goal would be to have them swap in the RMB motor instead of the one that comes from Ford. Not sure if it will work, but since it takes time to get anything covered under warranty and I'm a few weeks out on the motor from Ryan, it's worth the shot!

Wish me luck boys, I could use some these days.

#332 ·
Intercooler and winch pulled last night and the DP’s and cat-back pulled today.

It certainly is a bit of a long shot to get Ford to cover it, but gotta try. It would be pretty awesome if it worked out.

Well, the truck made it to Calgary (600 miles away from home). The dealer thinks either I'm nuts for driving it or nuts for thinking something is wrong with the motor. But trust me, something is broken in the bottom end.

They will start ripping it apart in two weeks and hopefully I'll have a motor from Mr. Brown in their hands by the end of the month to install. Gonna do a Circle D converter at the same time as I think it's a smart upgrade while in there.

Really anxious about my truck being in someone else's hands, I would prefer to do the engine swap myself but just don't have the time or resources around home to do it.

Can ya do it?

I PROMISE if you can lic that one demon, so much about this thing we do (life) gets far easier!

And I agree, that will be a great truck!

Well, if it tells you anything, this was meant to be a leveled and Tune ONLY truck until warranty ran out. I have a history of messing with stuff more than the average bear, but had thought for some strange reason that this truck was going to be different..

Anyway, guess I'm married to this truck now...unless I'm looking for a divorce, lol.

#338 ·
Gotta say how awesome it has been working with Ryan on this project. A few minor tweaks to the formula, but the dude knows what he's talking about. He has continued to put up with my random texts and questions in trying to squeeze what we can out of a pretty strict budget.

I wish the CDN dollar didn't suck so bad right now. If this was a few years ago with a dollar at par, we would have had about 35% more fun, lol.

#339 ·
I only wish he could clone himself once or twice. He'd have a crew then so one could get some R&R while the other(s) were burning the candle.

I wonder if he actually sleeps.

I'll be glad to help. So when are you going to move the RMB headquarters down here to Texas? We southern boys (specifically Texans) are as trustworthy as they come. LOL

Lol.
You guys are hilarious.
But, as a 60 year Texas resident I want to make it clear that as fine a spot as Texas is on this big blue-green ball, it SUCKS June, July, and August.

Unless you aren't someone who actually sits on a porch or prefers to be outside.

Otherwise, yea, come on! Everybody else is.

You’ve spent your share of time in my neck of the woods. You gotta know we’ve been at 100 degrees for the past month.

#354 ·
You're correct.
Well, I didn't mean Texas is the ONLY place that sucks in the summer.

I'm really just a heat sissy. And I must have not always been that way since I grew up before air conditioning was in our cars, and we had a window unit in just the family room, and I played outside all day.

I'm one that is pretty good in a far range of temps. I spent WAY too much time in Houston a few years ago and "Enjoyed" 110 degree weather with 100% humidity. But I also grew up in Central Canada where I worked outside in the Winter (Snow removal, Grooming snowmobile trails, etc) and did it in some pretty brutal conditions. A couple of nights removing snow, it hit -40 without windchill and -57 with.

My truck has seen -35 to +100, it's some crazy weather North of the border.
