Yup, I agree. it also depends on how invested you are in your vehicle outside of the engine.

2015 Whipple 5.0 with 35's. Closest I could find to the config of Ryan's truck. Absolutely cheaper than Ryan's build, but the delta is not as impressive as some others that are trying to compare Ryan's numbers.

i would say it’s 100 times more impressive.

if you have ever driven or bend in a PD blower powered coyote you know as soon as you stab the pedal you get instant boost and that equals 400+rwtq

ryans 600hp Dyno looked like the a boosted Honda Civic.

I never stated the cost of a motor is 10k. I’m comparing the value of 10k to 50k based on one mans perspective vs another. Which boils down to the financial well being of one vs another

Very true.

One point I make with the option I chose is: I can remove the blower and sell it for 50-80% of the money I have in it.

i can sell the truck or if totaled the insurance pays me what I have in it.

so if I sell it I can reverse and recoupe a big chuck of that money, also I could move the blower to a new truck or car.

The ecoboost will be a lot harder to part out and get that money for after a built engine.

And if you don’t have custom insurance a total lose would be bad.

All of this is my opinion (remember I parted out a gt turbo’d 2016 3.5 ecoboost and it took about a year for all the top tier parts to sell)

IF WE ARE TALKING 2018's.

- Very Easy 450whp and gobs of torque = 3.5 eco with $500ish
- Easy 600whp and lots of torque = 5.0 + Whipple (even though I had Roush Blower, I prefer Whipple) $6500ish

Vehicle config and fuel available will lead to varying results.
A friend of mine who sold and installed turbos never just put turbos on a stock motor and sent the car out the shop. He had to do injectors, fuel pump, and tune. Don’t you have to do that with the Whipple set up also? Adding an additional expense. As I said before it’s really all about your bank account. I can’t even afford the $500 mod for my truck. Ha ha. But I like the guys who can do high dollar mods. Life would be boring if nobody could do mods. The 5.0 Whipple would be the way I’d go if I had money to go another route. One last thing. A high HP engine mod never stops there.... brakes, wheels, suspension, = more money. You know how it is.

Whipple comes with everything you need. they come in staged kits and with guaranteed power ratings for those stages.

I guess all kits are not created equal.

they sell a complete kit and a “tuner” kit.

the tuner kit does not come with fuel injectors or a tune because it is designed for shops that provide there own tuning and don’t want to pay for a tune and injectors that they will not use.

the tuner kit is not for the average consumer...

You're parts didn't sell because nobody wanted to support your 5.0 habit BAHAHAHAHAHA

Talked with a couple local speed shops. New "base" numbers, will be done a DynoJet 224x that I have booked for the 15th. So not quite as generous as a Dynocom, but it's all about percentage gains.

We'll see what the piggy-bank looks like after I'm done treating it like a Vegas Escort. I will do a new motor/setup run on the DynoJet and may run on a local chassis Dyno (DynaPak). I'm just curious how different the results for the same truck would be.

Cold Air Intakes come with "guaranteed power ratings" too....but we all know that's not always accurate. ;)

Did you actually look at the graphs side by side???

Have you driven Ryan's truck to know how they compare???

Blown you know I haven’t, and you know I can only make the comparison based on the Dyno charts

The scales being different, throw off a great comparison, but there is no way one drive "100 times" better than the other one...

Torque off idle to 3000rpm (part throttle or full) would make or break the driving experience. That’s what I would call 100x better.

ive seen snakebitten talk about what he loves the most about his truck and the dyno you posted from the ecoboost is the opposite of what he loves.

This is just my opinion and I’m it’s based on my experience - doesn’t mean its right or I have any idea of what I’m talking about.

Yup, completely agree that 0-3000RPM is the meat of the drivers experience. Let's see if Mr. Bruce decides that drop in Turbo's are a better choice.

For fun, here are the two graphs plotted over each other. Blue is Ryan's Truck, Green is the Whipple Stage 2 on a truck with 35's.

can you plot my dyno in? (For fun)

For sure, do you have a print out or better angle so I can read the numbers?

Should I knock off 7% for Dynocom inflation? lol

I will have to get the pdf when I get home.

7% high?

The guys at the dyno told me that their dyno was a heart breaker and if I wanted glory numbers I needed to go to a Dynojet.

I don’t know if it reads high or low. but if it does I have before numbers to calculate the % gain, and snakebitten Dyno’d there And if memory serves me correctly his gearhead and 5star numbers didnt look inflated.

I will point out that the ecoboost numbers came from a Dynojet...

Mr. Bruce :) is very close to deciding on @mattr66 (GearHead) enhanced Raptor turbos. For several reasons. One of which is exactly what you fellas are eluding to.
I'm not ecstatic about moving that Ecoboost low end hit too far up the scale.

Many will conclude that I'd be leaving a lot on the table considering the all-out build Ryan is finishing up on. They'd be right, of course. But understressing that motor just plays right into the long-term health as well.

It's not going to be a pig. And I have been pretty consistent about my goals. I'm betting GearHead can get that beast running daily driver smooth and still have plenty of Angry on tap for when it's called for.

Matt’s torque with those turbos is very good.

@snakebitten did you find zero dark thirty’s dyno number to be inflated?
