I started out with a new 2014 FX4 Screw luxury pack in Blue flame. 7200# GVW, 3:55's. Pretty much all options other than Max tow and Apperance pack. Built in November of 2014 and I bought it March of 2015.

Bought the truck from family that work at a dealer, great deal as I was able to get it for less than used. Downside is it was 600miles away. Thankfully, my Uncle delivered it for me.

I had them put 3M on the bumper and do a Spray in liner. They did a great job with both.

Day I got it.

I already had a 2" AS level for it that I put in a couple of days later

The kit came with a 3" rear block, but I figured it would put too much rake back in for my taste.
on level ground, it measures perfectly level. I would have liked a bit of rake, but I address that later on...much later.

I've been doing more datalogging over the past few days and it is pretty obvious that the Factory CAC is really not up to the task. I blame the factory plugging on the side of the core that limits the amount of air flow. Even cruising along with the slightest bit of load at 60mph and the IAT2 is 30* above ambient. It will easily hit 60* above ambient on a 0-80 run.

I really hope to see my Full Race CAC by Friday of this week. I'll put it in right away to see if it will help before I put in the Turbo's. Even after a couple of revisions with Mike, a lot of HP is being left on the table because the air charge isn't as cool as it could be.

Intercooler is in the mail! According to Nick and the tracking info, I should have it by Wednesday! So stoked to get it.

I'm going to edit the above post as well to be able to compare after a revision from Mike (post #85). I just can't get decent gas around here to allow for 93 octane timing.

Progress, but slow...;)

Intercooler arrived today as scheduled. I honestly thought I would have to wait until at least tomorrow.

Showed up at my door 1:30, installed and the truck was running by 3:30. Pretty straight forward, probably should have read the instructions as I have a tiny screw left over in the parts, but think it may be for the eBOV elbow. The only real pain was the supplied vacuum line for the BOV was too small for the fitting on the intake. I had to rig up an adapter using some fuel line parts I had. I'll be getting a proper adapter and line tomorrow.

I know it's been mentioned many times before, but they don't mess around with the packing!

Awesomeness

It's hard to see, but I do have a "corked up" OEM CAC. Really too bad, but whatever it's out now.

Thanks to Chris H, I also installed a Tial BOV.

I'll hopefully do some datalogging in the next couple of days to compare IAT2 temps.

I also put in a AEM dry drop in filter.

Ha, I have no idea what it's for. Not mentioned in the instructions. It's small, like a #4 Machine screw with a Allen head and a flat washer.

Just to satisfy the curiosity, I'll post a pic and maybe someone knows. I could also ask FR, but that would be too easy...:p

lol, I know.

OEM CAC was pretty clean and I was actually surprised. I set it up on it's end to see how much oil would pool in it and it was very little. maybe enough to fill up a 1/3rd of a shot glass. Truck has 35k miles on it now.

I haven't installed a catch can yet, but do plan on it in the future.

Still have to get a pic of the screw. Not sure where I put it.

Went and did some logging tonight. I'll post up a comparison tomorrow, but WOW what a difference in intake temps. I thought it would make a difference, but not be within 15* of ambient at the end of a 0-80mph run!

A comparison between the OEM CAC and the FR CAC.

0-80mph runs. Same everything except the I swapped out the CAC. Same temps, same road, same tank of gas, same tune, blah, blah, blah.

OEM IAT2 temp

Full Race CAC IAT2 temp

The orange line is speed.

Logs sent to Mike, I am off on a business trip all this upcoming week so not much will be happening.

One of these has been on my wishlist after reading about their "Freakoboost" on their website. Of course, they gave plenty of other things that make the list as well! Thanks for sharing and making us all drool...[emoji12]!

Data logs sent to mike for full 3rd gear pulls. I'm expecting that he'll shoot me my first version for the GT's and other stuff in the next few days.

Now, just to get off my wrenches and get the GT's installed. Shooting to get it done by the end of the week. Fingers crossed "life" doesn't get in the way!

Turbo's and manifolds done!

Started at 7:30 and was rolling again by 4:30. No real surprises. All the bolts came out without issue. Had to fight one of the coolant lines off the drivers side turbo.

Got it all buttoned up and then realized I forgot to put in the 170* t-stat, opps. Probably just going to leave it out and see how things go. I can always throw it in later and get an adjusted tune.

Planning on getting the Cat-back and intake done tomorrow.

Big thanks to RBrown for some last second torque specs!

Pics for proof!

SPD adapter on top of the oem one. A bit of a difference.

Took the truck for a bit of a spin today. Seems really strong with the "stock" tune from MPT. Certainly a different power band than the oem Turbo's.

I started fabing up a little adapter plate for the MAP sensor on the AFE intake. It isn't the prettiest, but I think it will work.

#111 ·
Yeah, I guess you could say that.

The power seems more linear, not just a gob of torque on the bottom. I like it so far.

I'm only running a base tune, so I don't think it's making anymore power than with the 91 PRX by any stretch.

I was able to get the AFE Stage 2 intake on and the 3" MBRP cat-back. Not sure on the sound just yet, I need to drive it a bit more.

#113 ·
Out of town for the rest of the week, so Mike should have a revised tune by the time I'm back for me to load up.

Pretty impressed with the power, but not sure of the noise now coming from the front (Intake) or the rear (exhaust). Gonna have to drive it a bit more and see if I can get used to it.

As ryan told me about the BOV, you get used to it.

Made my wife take the truck for her errands today. She wasn't expecting what she got to say the least. Good thing she likes driving the truck, when I let her

I like the BOV, it's actually way quieter than I thought it would be. The intake however is really loud and would be tolerated if I could hear the turbos a bit more. Just sounds like an obnoxious vacuum to me.

The exhaust has a decent tone to it, but I would prefer it a bit quieter. Probably going to try ans mod it a bit before it gets pulled.

Thankfully, my wife hates driving my truck. But she does have to drive it on Sunday to come and get me from the airport. Boy am I gonna hear about it...

I have the Tial. I think the Tial sounds more like the "VTA" mod of the eBOV. It's pretty quiet and unless it's a hard pull off the throttle, don't even hear it in the cab.

I think the Turbosmart has a nice "crisp" sound, but reminds me more of a import BOV.

It is louder with the GT's, but I'm assuming that just because they are moving more air.
