I'm considering jumping to a 2015 F-150 because of the aluminum bodies.

I believe 2015 introduced some changes to the 3.5 that's proven to be so reliable. Is the consensus that it's more or less reliable than the first gen EcoBoost? Same?

I'm reluctant to change vehicles because I have a 2014 with 232K miles on it and have had zero issues since I bought it at 199K. Not sure I want to take the risk.

Thanks!

Probably better to go 17+ for the Gen2 3.5. They pretty much addressed all the issues people were having with the Gen1.

The 2015 was new body style/aluminum. The 2017 was the updated engine.

My 2015 has only had 1 issue in 82k miles and that was throttle body.

The 2015 and 2016 drivetrain are gen1 eco with a 6R80 transmission...same as your 2014. The body is different. 2017 brought the gen 2 along with the 10R80 transmission.

I had a 2015, great truck.... but for you, as others have said, go 17 and up!

I have a 2017. Bought it at around 24k. At around 28k had cold start rattle, dealer replaced vct adjusters. At the same time I had the dealer take care of door latch issue TSB. Other then that I have had no problems. around 44k now.
