Those prices are wack. You can buy a whole reman unit straight from Ford that has all the updated stuff in it for like $5300 if you shop around online. Tasca Ford Parts usually does the best for me. And any decent tech can pull that trans and slap a new one back into it in 6 hours labor or so. It's not a hard job.

You don't need clutch packs unless some are burnt up. The frictions hold up well especially if your not tuned. There are supercharged mustangs out there still on factory clutches. The weakest links in this 10r80 are the CDF drum bushing and the F Clutch drum aka the trash can. Valve bodies can be weird too. Other than that, they are actually great transmissions. But people rarely come to a forum to talk about how good they are 😀
