Except if they called it maroon, you'd be scratching your head when it suddenly changes to rootbeer right before your eyes.

I ain't kidding!

That is an amazing paint formula, whatever it is.

This is something I avoid like the plaque. :)

Rear view mirror living?

It's like flirting with buyer's remorse.

Heck, I even avoid future living too, if it's too far out. (views that start with "someday") Folks are notorious for predicting that at some point in their future (someday) things will finally be great.

I say all this while sitting on my daughter's porch watching my 1 year old granddaughter splashing in a plastic swimming pool sans a diaper. Pawpaw put her in it without getting permission from the 9-month pregnant mother. (She is too uncomfortable to yell at me)

And yes, the water is going to have to be changed here in a few minutes, lol.

In that context, I hope he paid less...... got a better deal, than I EVER have. Like I said earlier, "Well played!"

I'm not sure there would be any appreciable difference between my 18 and your 19?

So that would be a very odd and unexpected conclusion. Unless the tune isn't the same. Mine might be different than the emailed tune since it was tweaked on Matt's dyno. But "tweaked" would be the appropriate word.

Or to put it another way, it's hard to hide nearly a 100HP?

The only other explanation is that perhaps Ford has adjusted the stock tune on the 19's?But wouldn't they be bragging about an increase in performance?

The final thought would be that the GearHead tune, in my opinion, is far less "dramatic" in how it puts the power down than my 5* tune(s). Although the peak power numbers are not really much different, the personality IS very different. I would even be willing to say the "Fun factor" is more pronounced in the 5* tunes. Kinda hooligan, if you will.

Regardless, that's quite an unexpected response for any of the tunes from any of the known tuners these days. Even canned tunes are now mature for Gen2 and folks report them as substantial. :)

These newer trucks are crazy performance machines. Are we getting jaded? Lol

^ completely agree and you all know I am a huge GH supporter, my GH 2015 tune was amazing and fared well at the track..... But maybe my expectations where more (higher) or maybe the 19's are tuned that well from the factory, but there wasn't that much of a difference in "seat of my pants" feeling over when the truck was running the stock tune vs. the GH tune when the foot was in it...

More seat time, better fuel and the track..... And I will go from there
No worries. :)

I've been running Ford tune for a couple of weeks. It's been a YEAR since I did so.

(preparing for taking it to the dealer for a couple of recalls and I thought an oil pressure sensor, but it won't act up any more)

I gotta admit it runs way better than I remember. Honestly, I get frequent seat time in "her" new 18 XLT, and on occasion in my brother's HDPP 18. I'm sure it's not my imagination but my truck just has better response than either of there's. Feels like more grunt from down low. (They both run 87, by the way. I always run 93)

If I'm NOT imagining it, then there IS a substantial difference in fuel? And I'm also convinced with the variations in manufacturing tolerances that these motors have historically revealed on tear-down, it's reasonable to assume that 10 identical trucks would have a noticeable variance in how they perform, as well as how they "sound". (noises emitted from the drive train)

If any of that is factual, it would explain why I think my truck runs better than theirs.

Of course mine could blow up tomorrow and none of that would benefit me one bit! Lol

Yea, but look at that "Miles Until Empty"!

It's a warm fuzzy, ain't it?

I've seen 700+ a couple of times when interstating and not towing.

You beat me by 2!

(At Buckeyes in Luling Texas late at night. I had just purchased the truck a few days earlier)

Well said there Sir Ike.

I'll only add that with these 3.5EB, I don't think the modern safe tunes that are available is really any threat to the health of these trucks.

At least not compared to the real threat that the manufacturer represents! Or put another way, the biggest risk to buying the 3.5 is did you get a good one? :)

Don't misunderstand. The odds aren't as bad as that might sound. But it's pretty well documented that there are quality control issues with these very complex Twin Turbo Variable Valve Timing 4 OH Cam Direct Injected Variable Oil Pressure motors. Lol

TTVVT4OHCDIVOP for short. ;)

I have no doubt that they would be superior to oem, thus an upgrade.

But I could never convince myself to choose suspension components based on color. :)

I can't even see any of it from the cockpit, where what those pieces are doing matters most.

If the struts shocks I wanted were PINK, I'd either live with the smack they drew me, or paint them. Lol

I like the unobstructed airflow. But yea, I would like a blue oval perhaps myself.

Besides, I have 360 camera. So I kinda require it

My 18 lights INSTANTLY, when I allow it.
Fastest starting vehicle I have ever owned.

Ironically, it's the only vehicle I have ever owned that I purposely STOP it from starting when doing a cold start. Lol

I too run Matt's recommended plug and gap.
I'm due for a new set about now.

25k was my intention. I think I'm at about 24k now.

No real symptoms of any kind. It's running like it always has. Actually better with the sudden cold air.

I'll be curious to see what they look like.

You're just getting old and mature. Lol

No seriously, both tunes are high quality stuff. But like 2 artists painting the same landscape, they have 2 different takes.

Both great artists

I prefer my GH tune too. But I am completely aware of what it is I am preferring. First it is the transmission strategy. Completely subjective, of course, but it's just more to my liking under most circumstances. Secondly, I actually learned to appreciate the less frantic low end. It's a daily driver low end. A gentleman hit at the bottom.

But on those days when I'm feeling frisky and wanting to do battle? If I'm willing, it just takes 6 minutes.

Those tailgate letters are one of my favorite upgrades to the looks of the 18+ trucks.

Amazing how few I see in the wild.

Since your truck reflects VERY careful consideration of everything esthetic, and you mentioned low profile, you might look at the aluminum trifold that Weathertech sells under their label.

It's svelte and has only the smallest seams between the 3 aluminum panels.

I think they have some decent videos too for getting a thorough look

Your truck deserves it.

He's about 33"? So not bad. But AT's and wheel combo are probably a little bit more burdensome.

Regardless, this is why I avoid "the numbers".

You were so happy with that gorgeous truck until you MEASURED something. Live by the sword, die by the sword.

Your truck hauls butt! I don't care what anyone says.
