Traded in the 5.0 for this 2022 3.5 Ecoboost. I test drove new ones as that was the plan but found this one with 2000 miles and got a good deal so it’s mine. When test driving the newer 3.5 they were pretty dam quick and torqey when throttling in. The one I picked up seems a little laggy and was thinking it has some adaptive learning into it from the previous owner. Would like to reset it. I asked the dealer but they declined. I have Forscan from the previous F150, wasn’t sure if there were was a way to do it through there or should I try a different dealer to reset it?

Or remove neg battery cable for 10 min i heard that resets learning as well
To be honest I would like to do this if I knew it wouldn’t mess anything else up. You are essentially draining the entire computer system of all memory. I have also read posts that some people have issues just changing a battery out. Technology can be so awesome but so temperamental at times. Just would like to try this as there is a pretty significant difference between the seat of the pants performance of the new trucks I test drove vs the one I purchased that was used (3000 miles). All the same year.

If you take the battery disconnect method, I'd do it overnight. Longer times period.
That would accomplish a KAM reset, transmission adaptive tables, battery management system, TCU and Gateway modules.....

Basically a soft/hard reset to its birthday.

And I don't believe there's anything to fear personally. Just know that it might behave a little confused for a while, no differently than it did on mile #1 the first time.

Nice truck, another thing that might wake it up is some fresh premium fuel. The engine will learn as it run how the fuel load responds to timing and boost. It will adjust timing and boost accordingly and put a correction factor in. If it’s lower quality gas it will feel sluggish.

Is the adaptive learning a rolling thing or does it set itself and never changes? Getting mine in snowy/icy conditions has me driving pretty conservatively at the moment lol

Here's a pretty good article written in 2020 for the transmission technician industry regarding the 10r80.
Written in very understandable language for someone like ME. :)

The Adaptive Learning portion doesn't answer your question specifically, but it implies that it is mostly a finite process and once the TCU "learns", it's learned.
Clearing the tables forces it to take the short class again?

The good news is that the procedure in that article is an awful lot like driving on snow and ice lol... Maybe I won't have to reset it in the spring.

Mine gets reset everytime a pcm update shows up.
Only once on this 2022 since I fetched it.
But I think the 2021 got 2 or 3 pcm updates in its first year.
It got better everytime, in my opinion.

Nice truck and run good quality fuel and high octane .... regardless, there will be some lag in these turbo trucks Learning the right gear for the right throttle application helps and S Mode can't hurt

S mode will also be more apt to shift down and change gear with less throttle input.
