Going camping with a few friends and towing a utility trailer with 4 kayaks. Have a 2 inch receiver on the front end of my truck and was going to use a hitch platform.

Was planning on putting a cooler on the front to drive about an hour or so on the platform on the front end.

Anybody think this is an issue with airflow and what not? I have a an after market cold air intake installed.

I have a grill guard and winch on the front that almost completely blocks my intercooler. It's been there for the last 90K miles... no issues.

why?

Many people have front hitch mounts. Makes it very easy to move trailers around and park them, etc. You can also use the hitch mount for things like winches and cargo racks.

I think the single biggest reason is a winch, seconded by a bike rack.
