Hello all, I've been scouring the interwebs for some advice/answers for my truck. I've tried everything I know to try, other than a new motor, or burning it to the ground. Here's my situation (sorry for length, but I've dealt with this for over a year):
2011 F150 Platinum Eco: My current setup is UPR Mega Catch Can & the 1/16" weep hole in the CAC. I had an AFE cold air, but went back to the stock intake. I bought the truck about 2 years ago with 36k miles. I want to say I threw the catch can on there about 40k. So around 55k I started getting the miss, but only with acceleration, it was fine at idle. I could throw it in Park or Neutral and pedal to the floor never stuttered. So I bought MSD coils and motorcraft plugs, gapped to .28, change them out, everything was fine. Ran for about a month, and never had any problems. So I was going down the road one day, opened it up....tranny downshifted to 3 or 4th and took off...well, around 80 mph when it shifted to 5th the stutter arrived again. It sounds like my engine is flooding out. CEL came on, only flashing, and went off. So I went back to driving normal, never getting my foot in it the rest of the day. Next day, I tried it again, and had the same problem. So I pulled and cleaned plugs, nothing wrong with them, and after about to days from cleaning it happened again. At first it was random cylinders. One time it was #3, then #5. So I just drove like a granny, so my engine wouldn't go into limp mode. Finally, I just told myself I had a bad set of plugs, and changed them again. I went with the ruthenium plugs, changed them about 2 months ago, and they gave me maybe a week before my miss started. Only this time my CEL is consistently saying #6 is the only misfire. I have swapped coils around, and plugs, but same cylinder is getting the misfire.
So here's what I've tried:
*swapped around plugs and coils to eliminate any of them being the problem, no help
*plugged up the weep hole, just to say I tried that and maybe get lucky, no help (I opened the weep hole back up)
*tried gapping my plugs anywhere from .26 - .32, all getting the miss at some point and time
*changed out the high pressure fuel pump, in the event it was sending to much or too little fuel, no help
*removed cold air intake to factory, have heard that sometimes engine can run lean or rich, no help
*cleaned map sensors on intake and throttle body, no help
*Vent to atmosphere on turbos, no help (put hoses back stock)
Like I said I can drive like Mrs Daisy, and no produce the fire, but if I ever need to pass someone or go uphill, it will show back up. I can accelerate in park or neutral and no misfire, and no misfire at idle. I posted on an old thread, but one of the admins said to try starting a new discussion. I'm so tired of worrying everytime I drive my truck, if it's going to do what I know it will eventually do at some point during the day. Sometimes the CEL stays on, sometimes it will just flash. I have a scanner and clear the codes every few days, after I try something new out to eliminate the stutter/misfire/shudder altogether.
So....here I am guys, desperate, on my hands and knees, calling out for your extensive and valuable ecoboost knowledge, what in the heck do I need to do?!
