Hey everyone. Im a new member here for some information. I blew out a turbo when we had some -29⁰ weather and I'm going to replace them both because the truck has 143k miles.

Has anyone replaced with GDP turbos or have recommendations on new ones I could use besides Garrett. Those are a little out of my price range. Trying to stay around $1000 for the pair.

I replaced my turbos on my 3.5 2016 with the CRP stage 3 super cores. on those you re-use the turbine housing but don't have to send in the old parts or anything. They have a ton of options from rebuild kits to cores to complete turbos. I have about 25k miles on the new turbos and other stuff, shes running like a champ, putting out nice power, and I am very happy with them.....maybe a tiny part of me thinks I should have gone bigger....tiny part.

I'm toying with the idea of machining my own compressor housings out, but I don't want to thrash the two rebuildable cores I have 🤣.

Working on getting ahold of some ruined turbos of various types so I don't have to stress about it.

I've also found rotomaster turbos and actually spoke with a technician in KY who's diesel shop sells the brand and he said they make a very good and reliable factory replacement. Those new are $400 each on rockauto. So that's my other thought besides GDP.

AGP is alright from what I hear as well. So are Comp turbos.

I do have the 2 stock cores that I replaced, nothing wrong with them but I didn't want to go through all the trouble during my manifold swap just to put back the 120k mile turbos and have an issue again. @motorhead1991 if you or anyone else is interested I can ship em, cheap but not free. still puts you in a situation to ruin good parts though.

and @Dplante2013xlt4x4 that reminds me. if you are changing turbos and still have your stock exhaust manifolds on, go ahead and upgrade those, you will be saving yourself from doing all of that work twice. yes, probably another $400 on the job but if they warp later the turbos have to come back off again and it is a pain.

I'm aiming a little higher for my manifolds personally. I plan on skipping the CRP/BDD manifolds and going straight to the Formlines, and due to this I plan on putting my custom downpipes on first (hopefully before April, my next road trip North).

@TMcQ150 What are you asking for the pair? I'm currently down due to the passenger turbo going out. I know you said they have some miles but if I can use them to get by till I can save some more cash to do my rebuild, that would be awesome! This is my second engine in this truck, first went at 240,000 and now its at 280,000 with second engine having 136,000 on it now. This is my daily to work and back truck.
