Anybody running IWE delete?

I just started having trouble with my IWE's. I did all kinds of research and am convinced that I want to eliminate. I found the Dorman 600-405 and have already ordered these and am curious if anyone else is running deleted and how it is going for them long term and which choice they are using.

I’ve only had them for a few months, but they work well. Ford is now recommending to do a vacuum delete anyway, if you’re out of warranty. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Show us where Ford is actually recommending this as a fix?

Ford MORE than recommends an "IWE delete" procedure on the current 4WD F150's. They simply ship some of the 4WD trucks without IWE altogether!

I got me one and find it a small, but not insignificant, absence of worry. :)

You remind me of myself with technical knowledge.

Shop foreman called the other day with a fuel system/engine ecm question asking if we still had a test ecm. Told him that wasn’t even the same ecm as the one he wanted to know about lol. Completely different setup.

Ford doesn’t care if you drive around with IWE’s engaged always with the Auto 4wd so I doubt they’ll care if you delete them.

I am have the Delete kit that TED BRITT FORD put on there because they couldn’t figure out the issue. (Change the hoses out, replace the whole system then). By the way did I mention I was under warranty as well? Less than 30k on the thing. So back to the story. I wouldn’t mind having the IWE delete kit if I didn’t hear the front drive assembly moving. It’s a faint winding noise. Also lose amount a mile per gallon.
All of my fords have made that noise in 4h or 4a. Also when in 4a, it stutters when accelerating. I remember my explore doing that, but that was 98 and considered normal.

I really don’t see how ford recommends a IWE delete. Ford would never recommend this. FORD not the ford dealer.
It’s in the shop now for its 2nd transmission installation, inner-cooler also bad, I am pretty much making them change out the whole IWE system. I don’t want it back until they do
But Ford is recommending essentially to delete the IWE on 4A equipped trucks. It's in official writing. :)

I personally don't think you should HEAR 4A. And Certainly not 2Hi with locked hubs.
I've had 3 trucks consecutively with the feature and haven't heard it.
I DO feeeeel 4A, mostly through an additional "weighting" of the steering. (I have sensitive hands because I have numb feet)

I also think that if your driveline is 100% healthy, front differential specifically, the mpg hit should be negligible just from spinning the front axles, but not engaged with the transfer case. If there's enough resistance there to make an obvious hit on fuel consumption, that would concern me with possible issues regarding.

I'll take this as a compliment, right?

Here is a link to the TSB. Ford does recommend it. You can see where they say to remove and cap the vacuum line. That leaves the IWE's engaged.

If anything, the IWE delete keeps the front diff fluid fresh and moisture free. I’ve had the IWE “deleted” for over a year now. Maybe took a .5mpg hit.

IWE system is strictly for MPG.

When I jack the front tires up and free spin the wheels, I can definitely feel a significant difference with the hubs engaged or not.

Not like it becomes impossible to turn the wheel, but rather it just takes maybe 25% more force to start and once I let go of spinning by hand the wheel almost immediately stops (as opposed to spinning for a few more rotations in disengaged mode).

I am hoping a front dif fluid change will reduce drag? I also have one wheel that is not always disengaging when I switch out of 4A. If I wouldnt have tested this, I'd never have known.
FWIW, I did not notice any drag reduction after switching to synthetic gear oil when I serviced the rear diff. I was a bit surprised since I have noticed improvements on my other cars.

I believe stock is full syn in the rear already. Front is not.
