Would 18x9" wheels be better for towing then 18x8" wheels?

I was told narrower with less sidewall (aka kinda like 18 wheelers) puts more pounds per square inch to pavement and less wheel to tire rotation(wheel rotates before tire does) which is suppose increase tire life... The F-450 use to do this with 19.5" over 17" rims... Wider tires provide better flotation with smaller rim size which adds the extra flex within the tire much like the Ford Raptor 35" on 17" rims... But ultimately it will boil down to the payload rating of the tire... I went with e-rated Toyo open country all terrain (10ply) size 33" on 18" only because I need tires to match both the towing/payload rating of the truck while providing better off road/narly weather traction...
