My wife's truck. 2011 bought new in June '12. It's her daily driver and she pulls a horse trailer regularly with it (approx 6-7k pounds). All service done at dealer and on time.
Around 20k miles she started complaining that it was "missing", especially when accelerating. The dealer blew her off. After 30k miles she complained again and the dealer charged her $300 to change the transmission fluid and "service the injectors".
With less than 35k miles, while driving to a horse show, 500 miles away from home, the truck started missing badly, the check engine light came on and would barely go 45 miles per hour on flat ground. Limped into a dealership and was diagnosed with a bad plug (#6). Replaced and everything was fine afterwards. $200 and told to replace all the plugs and coils (they didn't have a coil in stock).
Fast forward to 50k on the odometer and heading to another horse event on a Friday afternoon when it happens again. Find the closest dealership. This time it's the #4 plug. Changed plug & coil on that cylinder and she's on her way. $300.
She has not changed all the other plugs and coils. Thinks it's crazy to have to spend $2K for a vehicle that is still under the powertrain warranty that she is still making payments on, but needs a more reliable vehicle. We talked to our salesman (bought three Fords from him over three years), who spoke to someone...who gave us a number to call. We're thinking of just trading it in, but she's talking Chevy.
Anybody else hear about this kind of problems? Suggestions???
