my truck has a little over 100k miles and im looking at aftermarket turbos to get to kind of refresh her. i was wondering if anyone has some on theirs or some info on good ones. i want ones that give good horsepower outputs and also possibly have a different sound when compared to the stock turbos, thanks

Have had good luck with the Borg Warner GT’s I installed 18 months ago on my 2011. Running on stock tune, a bit more audible whistle with OEM tubing, BOv’s etc.

Garrett’s Powermax have had a good rep in thevpast, but enough reports of them imploding lately that I would stay away

Garrett turbos are solid, and the best currently available option. I personally run powermax turbos hard on 3 trucks right now, these are all using the same bearing housing and internals as the gen1 and all at the limit of what the stock powertrain can handle.

There were publicized instances of failures on here and on reddit from what appears to be 1 batch of turbos built in a similar timeframe (and infuriatingly, the shop the guy on reddit bought the turbos from did not actually support the customer with a warranty claim). our team went to battle for the warranty department and every single turbo failure I was aware of got replaced under warranty - regardless of cause of failure or who the turbocharger was purchased through. Without any hard data, my speculation was during assembly, improper torque on the compressor wheel nut throughout 1 smallish batch of turbos was most likely to blame. Garrett continues to pledge to their distributors they will support any and all F150 powermax turbo customers and stood behind their warranty in all cases I'm aware of

The original Borgwarner upgrade turbos back in the day were excellent, sadly they became unavailable due to covid supply chain and now their production facility in Asheville, NC where these got built is out of commission for the forseeable future (due to hurricane Helene). I may have one of these left as a desk ornament but theyre as rare as hen's teeth. I'd expect the only way to find a set is through classifieds or ebay

I can attest to the customer-focused battle Full-Race waged. I'm very grateful for it.
Whatever OP chooses, I'd recommend shopping through Full Race for this reason. They have a few options including 100% oem.
All products can have issues. Not all vendors will stand behind you when they do.

Absolutely.
I'm not a big engine modifier, although a hopeless addict of Ford's twin turbo engine. It's a masterpiece, in my opinion.
But I wouldn't dream of buying products that FullRace offers from anywhere else. And I'll flip it around.....
If I was looking, I would look there first because if a product isn't up to snuff? They wouldn't even offer it.
I would just feel safer knowing where it came from and who's behind me as a consumer.

By the way, I did purchase a Full Race cat back exhaust. It was from another member who never even got it out of the shipping boxes except for pictures. It was also completely coated. (I don't remember the term for the black coating)
You wouldn't think an exhaust would necessarily be an item that exudes quality. Well,..... you should see it. :)

You should call and ask. Once upon a time they did; if you lookup their videos to hear the sound of their exhaust it showcases a Gen 1 (2011-2014). All I see on their site now is for 2015+.
