Hey all,

Looking at leveling kits for my '12 FX4. Considering 2" in front or 2.5" in front and 1" taller rear block. Any good/bad impressions from the various spacer kits? I'm worried that 2.5" may put too much stress on the CV's and ball joints.

I'm willing to spend more to do it right if needed but at the same time I also don't want to throw away money if it isn't needed. Is a spacer kit satisfcatory overall or should I be looking at coilovers?

if you're going to do spacers, why not do rancho quick lift coil overs for not all that much more? are they fox/icons? hell no. but they're at least a new / upgraded shock instead of a spacer on top of your old worn out struts?

that at was my thinking at least and it's turned out to be pretty much what I got and perfect 2 inch wheel well level to match the rear.
I'm definitely thinking about it but I wouldn't call 35k miles a worn out strut either so once again trying to ensure the best bang for my buck. If the complete coilover will cause less stress to the BJ/CV/etc. or provide better ride quality then that is something I would spend extra money on.

What size tire are you wanting to run? On what offset wheels? You might get by on a 1.5" and put even less angle on your CV's and ball joints (wish I would have done 1.5" instead of 2"). To me, a spacer lift is a spacer lift. As long as the hardware isn't cheap chinese crap grade double zero, you are fine. The $50 motofab kit on ebay is fine.
If I keep the factory 18" wheels I'm looking at 275/70/18 most likely. I am also keeping an eye out for a good deal on a set of 20's, I'd be looking at probably a 305/55/20, maybe 295/60/20. Basically a 33-34" tire.

I spoke with two truck shops in town. One uses Readylift spacers which run about $150. They also could order me Rancho coilover a and Bilstein 5100's for about $300-400. I think I'm leaning towards a Readylift spacer or 5100s. Thoughts?

I ended up going with the Bilsteins on my '13...had spacer leveling kits on my '04 and my '11 and ran them for miles with no problems. Just wanted to try something different...only went with the 2nd setting from the top and gained 1-1/2 inches of height. The Bilsteins in the rear helped when towing my utility trailers with the atv's...no sagging or swaying.

Level enough for me and still have some rake for towing.
Do you have measurements front and rear? Also how much if any did the rear get raised with the 5100's in the rear?
