I'm shopping for a 2016 or 2017 Explorer and I'm seeing very different center consoles. Some look like my 2016 F-150 with lots of physical knobs and a slide control for temperature, and others have fewer knobs and more buttons. Can someone explain the difference or point me to a discussion on the pros/cons for each? I'd rather have more physical controls vs. virtual buttons. Is this an inter-year Gen1 Gen2 thing I don't know about?
