I have had the Black Box G1W-H for over 3 years now and I can say I am still happy with it. Originally picked it up for around $55 dollars and have only replaced the windshield mount ($12) in that timeframe. I am sure there are better and cheaper options out there now considering how far technology has evolved but until this one gets fried or frozen, I will not be upgrading.

VERY tempted to buy but I just bought a new microSD for my current Dash Cam and it's working like new again.

Reading this thread, it appears no one utilizes their smartphone with a dash camera app. Wondering why not.

Ahh, thanks for the clarification. I use my phone while I'm driving for music or directions so that would not be feasible. I like having a proprietary device that is always recording when I am driving. If I am taking a short trip, I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of putting my phone in a windshield mount every time I get in the truck and remove it every time I get out of the truck.

Also, as I am NOT one of those people that ***** about the Auto-Start/Stop, those people that don't like to use the button would think that is the stupidest idea ever because it isn't set up right away in their truck. lol

Instead of spending more $$$ a dash cam, why not use the smartphone (you already own) with a dash cam app installed? There are several apps available.

You do realize that you can get a decently priced dash camera for the price of that mount alone?

I bought the G1W-H 4 years ago and it is still working just fine (although I did have to buy a new Micro SD card do it it bricking as well as a new mount). I think I bought it for around $50 dollars at the time.
