I have a 2015 Expedition with a 3.5 EcoBoost. I want to keep it as close to stock as possible but I do like a little intake turbo sound. (I like hearing turbo sound out of the exhaust also but I'm in California so forget about it) So I removed the intake silencer rings / veins and I'm about to do the VTA mod. But I'm wondering if there are any air box mods that people are doing or switching over to a cold air intake to hear more of the turbo out of the intake. Now I'm kind of wondering about a cold air intake breathing too much hot air out of the engine compartment. Just wondering about people's thoughts on this.
Also, since I first got this I've noticed the turbo sound has kind of a flutter to it. Kind of like air getting sucked through a paddle boat wheel type of thing. I thought it was the intake veins but I took those out and it still does it. Now I've read that the turbos spin in different directions and I'm wondering if this has something to do with it. Does anybody else hear this type of fluttering from the turbo intake?
