Just thought I would follow up on a closed thread, maybe this will help someone else out. My truck since 2018 has been running a bit hotter than I feel it should. I would see 230 pop on the dash not towing but pulling a long hill on interstate. Since it really never went above 232-234 I just figured it was the where my truck ran. Lately, it has gotten a bit worse where I find myself locking out 10th or 9th gear at times to keep the temp below 232.

Overheat not towing thread
Long story short, I replaced the thermostat to an apparently updated part number. Thermostat is made different as well.
HL3Z - 8575 - B Thermostat (Rev B)
HL3Z - 8255 - A O-Ring
This solved my problem, the hottest temperature I could get on the same drive this morning was 214, and temps run about 15-18 degrees cooler in general. Hopefully this will help someone else out. Can't believe I waited that long. I just figured if the thermostat was broken it would overheat all the time, but I wasn't necessarily overheating, just not cooling appropriately.
