Factory Remote Start Install

I just bought and installed an OEM remote start and will be taking it in today to be programmed and have the key cut. Does anyone know if the programming of the antenna and key is related to the ECU? I am tuned and was wondering if I need to return to stock in order to have this done.

^^^ I agree. Not all dealers are familiar with the remote start programming. Just in case they find that you are due for updated software and install it without you knowing. I bought my RS thru Rogel Ford and had it programmed over the phone. Took 10 min tops! I already had the basic RS and upgraded. The key cut is not related to the remote start. Is it a spare?

Just FYI for anyone in the future who looks at this page. There is an aftermarket kit available on some of the big retail sites.....part # MPC 2380. It allows you to keep your factory keys. Fits 11-14 model F150's. Install was a bit of a pain in the ass because you have to splice into a couple wires in the BCM harness, and also a couple going into the obd2 port. But if you feel comfortable with a little DIY wiring work, it could save you a ton of money. The kit only cost $109. I installed it on my 2014 and it worked great. Just hit lock 3 times to start the truck.

Always return to stock before any reprogramming.
Always always always.

Update: I did not return to stock when I took it in to have them activate my remote start. I did specify that I did not want the recall software update that I have out on my truck done at that time and they put it in writing that they wouldn't. Everything worked out fine other than them ripping me off and charging me 100$ for 10 minutes of "work"

See I don't know if that would have worked for me since I got the type with the remote start integrated into the factory key. They had to cut and program the key for it.

I have one on my 14`.
Love the added perimeter security. Super easy to install, especially since you already have a remote start to begin with.
Which means you won't need Ford to set it up. [emoji106]

I would say 15-20 minutes. Remove the panel under steering wheel, plug in module, zip tie in place, adjust the sensitivity and test. Done. For about $15 more you can get the LED which flashes when armed. OEM calls for putting it on the steering column but I, like others, installed it on the center console.
