I'm the new guy. Previous 3 trucks were F-250's. Last of which was an 02 7.3L.
My towing needs have diminished recently so here I am.
Purchased a new 2023 Fx4, 3.5 EB, 302a.
36 gallon tank, console shift, sport pkg, beer drinking window. No sun roof, (by design)
So far, active air dam delete and inter cooler shudders delete. I added bed tie downs, cause Ford cheaped out, put on
275/70/18 Cooper AT3, XLT's on stock wheels. F-150 decal on "auto" gate.
So far loving it.
I want to level it. Do you guys buy all new struts or are the pucks good enough?
Thanks for having me!
Lots to learn.

Welcome aboard. :)

The purists around here will recommend lifting the front with dampers designed for it.
Value version would be Bilsteins.

Haha OK. I'm usually more of an opportunist myself, but do want an equal to or greater than stock ride.
Thank you.

Welcome! Coming from a 7.3 you should like the torque of these teeny v6s.

I think spacers would retain much of that stock like ride, but the purists might say that stock like ride could really stand some improvement. Also spacers might give you some "thud" interference on dramatic down travel events such as off road or terrorizing neighborhood speed humps.

But all that aside, the much more important question is:

What is a "beer drinking window"?
Fingers crossed that I already have this feature but haven't been using it properly.

The power sliding rear window. So you can grab a beer from cooler in the box.

My opinion pony up the extra and install Bilstein 5100’s from the start. I wish I would have. I bought spacers then bought rear Bilstein shocks. Wish I would have done it all from the start. Pay for one alignment and install the fronts then. I love having mine done.

Thanks for your thoughts guys. May have to get the bilsteins. I found some for $500 front and rear. I use my front springs. Is thus a good way to go? I'll post a pic.
Thanks.
And yes, WAY snappier than the old 7.3.

So does this set-up look like an excellent way to go? Seems like re-using my stock springs would not be as good as longer springs. Looking for a full 2" of lift.
Thanks.

That’s the way I did it, Rockauto was the cheapest price I found.

Darn near the same torque with 2/3rd’s the weight and way more gearing advantage to leverage will do that….

As stated, the Bilstein way is the value equation slam dunk. :)

Haha, well, non-drinker here, but I understand that the power rear sliding window is great for throwing empties out, and fetching cold ones, on the fly.

Weight reduction is a huge reason I jumped into the 1/2 Ton platform. Yes, pleasantly surprised with the get up and go. I have not pulled with it yet.
Thanks tons for your reply.

Hardly any folks complain about the Bilstein's at their full 2" height with stock springs.
Complaints exist, but they are few compared to the ravings, and hard to verify as folks swap tires at the same time.

I never ran the Billies at full height, but was happy with their road manners on 2 stock height trucks now.

Not up to date on any suspension changes of the new truck. Is there still a rear block tween spring and axle?
That would be the easiest level at the least cost, provided going down in back would be an option. KM

You can also look into eibach suspension, there equal to bilstein and they offer a 1million mile warranty. I have them on my truck and they ride nice and smooth best suspension ive had yet

Yes. There's still a rear block.

One alternative to the Bilsteins on the Gen14 is the Ford Performance kit which IS Bilsteins, but a step up from the entry level dampers, and includes different front coil springs.

Dealership installed
Ford warranty, of course
I know it seems pricey compared to the 5100's, but in my opinion an impressive price for that level of upgrade.

The thing with pucks is that when the suspension is at full drop it hangs down the puck size (2”) farther then the suspension was designed for putting stress on tie rods and axels. It’s not a real big problem and I don’t think people have complained.

I like the bilstiens design. It is designed for the stock spring and the different C clips are predetermined ride heights. The F150 springs are pretty stout. Different springs would change the actual predetermined heights. So if you put the clip on 2”. it might be 2.5”.

My personal opinion is I wouldn’t go any higher than 1.5”. The higher you go with bilstiens the less drop you have. I like to keep the suspension ride height near the middle of suspension travel.

Thanks for the Rock Auto tip and your.feedback.

Yes, a block in back. Looking for additional clearance tho.
Thanks.
Up in front ok. No fan of pucks, rather more into better handling, so I go the coil over way. If you choose such, I'd recoment a front coil over with an adjustable threaded body that allows infiniute fine adjustment between the limits. While Bilestien 5100's are good they offer limited and depending on truck weight/options various amounts of lift.
My personal choice while costly resulted in excellent handling and better ride over stock and fully adjustable on the truck with wheels on the ground. Icon 2.5's CDCV at 4 corners. KM

Ya, you guys have talked me out of pucks.
Your Ions sound amazing. And prolly $$$
Thanks
Close to $4000. But they were reaserched and budgeted befor my XL RCSB was delivered. Higher versions of Eibach, Fox, RCVertex, Freedom Offroad, King, Halolift, have threaded collar adjustments. Next less costly are spacer collared with multiple fixed heights like Bilstien and many others. I have always been convinced OEM shock absorbers to be too soft and lose control quickly, a product built for mass consuption with ride softness and low cost in mind. KM.
