When purchasing a new or certified pre-owned F150, the dealership typically hounds you into buying an extended warranty through them for an outrageous amount of money. For some people, this option is a better choice because they can roll it directly into your loan payment. The issue with this is that you are paying an interest rate for the extended warranty. If you feel that you don't want this option from the dealership or want to wait til closer to the end of the factory warranty, there are still options for purchasing an extended warranty. Ford Protect is one option (most likely the same pricing from the dealership), but there are also multiple online dealerships that offer genuine Ford Extended warranties as well. I personally have used the warranty from Ziegler Ford and had no issues whatsoever. Some of the online genuine warranties allow you to make monthly payments as well.

for Canadians... question. I was at a local Ford Dealership getting something done. I have the extended warranty. the service adviser said NOT to use your warranty claim for what I was doing. she said " if you don't submit any warranty claims and you have paid for the extended warranty, you could go back to the dealership where you bought it and ask for a % of money back. for NOT using it " has anyone did this or heard of this before? for example I know I bought a TV form a store and I bought extended warranty , no claim issued I got a store credit for the amount I paid for the extended plan.

Not sure how it works in Canada, but I still had ~28K miles left on my warranty and two years on my previous 2013 F150 Ecoboost and when I traded it in the salesman said I needed to contact the company I got the extended warranty through for a refund. I did just that and 2 weeks later I had a check in my mailbox for $537 dollars (my extended warranty I purchased was $1200 dollars).

perfect! thank you form Ontario... I do guess you need to go to the dealership though and request it or they just keep it.
so I bought the 20,000 km extended or 12 months. it was $2,930.00 so I get all that back or a % of it back?

I got all of mine back. I was also able to just call the dealer I got it from to process this.

On my last vehicle I bought the extended warranty right near the end of my factory warranty. 3 years later I had never made a claim, and they gave me back (basically) what I paid for the extended, less some fees.

Don't buy the extended warranty through the dealership at time of purchase, they won't even give you a dime back.

Go through a third party Ford dealer.

I wanted to buy the warranty from my local dealer but they wanted too much money. I got a quote from Ziegler and took it to my local dealer. I said I’d buy from the local guy if they could beat Ziegler’s price. They beat it by $5 without hesitation. They knew I was a buyer and they would rather have a little bit of something than a whole lot of nothing. Ha.

On my 2020, my selling dealer wanted over $3200 for the 7/100 and I was able to get it from a different dealer for $1300 and change.
