The FX4 doesn't leave more cargo capacity than a fully loaded Lariat?

The marketing for the aluminum trucks drew a lot of jokes, but they obviously did save some weight.

My 18 couldn't be more optioned, I don't think. I can't think of anything it doesn't have. But still has ~ 1600lbs

And of course the 18 HDPP, although in XLT trim, has F250ish Cargo Capacity.

All this only matters when we are towing above the pre-WDH limits. Once those tongue weights start hitting 700+ lbs, those Cargo Capacity pounds start to get precious. Lol

An extra 3-400 are golden

My trailer tongue, loaded, is right around 1000lbs. 1804 lbs of cargo capacity makes it just work out under all specifications for axels, etc. That is with a trailer tongue that is advertised at 592 lbs. Batteries, propane, water, gear add a lot to the advertised weights so watch that carefully.

Max tow was definitely a much bigger deal back then. My '14 Lariat pretty much is loaded as well, down to a factory spray in bed liner and wheel well liners, and my payload sticker reads 1539 lbs. This is on the biggest, heaviest configuration as well(4x4 screw, 6.5' bed).

I went and looked at similarly optioned 2015+ Lariats and they all had similar payload to mine. mid to high 1500's, maybe low 1600's.

Max tow package added 3-400 lbs of payload I believe. My GVWR is 7700 lbs vs a non-max tow gvwr of 7350 for the same truck.
