I purchased a Hitch Step for my new 2015 F150 4x4. It's the Bully CR-605L 605 Series 2 in 1 Receiver Hitch Mount Step with LED Brake Light. When I hooked it up, I was not thinking about the Light interfering with the Trailer Connection Sensor.

It's unfortunate that I cannot use the light included with the Bully Hitch Step. Well, I can but the truck thinks there is a trailer connected and it disables my Blind Spot Detection System and a few other Backing Up Options that I like using. The answer is to not plug in the power for the light.

I first contacted my dealer and they have no idea how to disable that feature so I can use the brake and running light option of the hitch Step. I then called Ford today for assistance but, they also have no idea or from what I was told, do not have a department to deal with my problem for assistance. I was referred to a local dealer that could possibly help me.

I was told by that Specialist at the refereed dealer by Ford Customer Assistance that the only thing they could do would be to hook it up to a computer to see if that could be disabled in the ECM. I don't want that. I want to be able to temporarily turn that off when I do not need it, not disable it permanently.

Does anyone know how to disable the "trailer connected" feature when using the power connector for the trailer hitch when there is no trailer connected?

I have the 8" Productivity screen and the MyFord Touch in the new one if that helps.

For now, I use my hitch step without the light power connected for the light. Thanks in advance for your help.

you need a 4 pin plug to disable it, otherwise the trailer controller thinks you have a trailer plugged in.

From the Ford Brochure for your 2015 Lariat:
Trailer towing – Class IV Trailer Hitch (requiredfor towing up to 5,000 lbs.), 4-pin/7-pin wiringharness and Smart Trailer Tow Connector
Now I'm not sure what a "Smart Trailer Tow Connector" is, but my guess is it deals with the 4-pin as well. Might need to go into tow settings on your dash after installing the light. I'm not sure if that will help but just a thought.

I noticed the same thing. I only have an XLT but lose the trailer and backup guidelines. And at each start the truck tells me that the turn signals are faulting on the trailer. Would be nice to have option control.

So, I was driving today and noticed that a 2015 FX4 did not have the electrical connectors to the left (or right) of the hitch. Did they hide them on the '15's or move them to the license plate are like other brands?

Get a 12" 4 pin extender cable and cut the green (right turn) and yellow (left turn) wire's. This worked for me. Also make sure you leave your light switch on Auto.
