IAT sensor and Meth

Yes, you have 3 IAT sensors. IAT = Ambient Air Temp, IAT1 = Incoming Air Temp (located in the intake tubing just after the Air Cleaner), and IAT2 = Manifold Air Temp (this is a combination IAT & MAP sensor and located on the top of the Intake Manifold).

IAT2 would the be one to monitor the temp drops after installing a METH Kit and/or CAC.

... the one at the airbox and the one in the charge pipe....
NO ... there is no IAT sensor in the Airbox, it is in the Intake Ducting just AFTER the airbox - that is IAT1. There is no other IAT sensors in any of the Charge Pipes. The only other is IAT2 in the Intake Manfold.

Ok I was confused - it's a map sensor in the charge pipe and a combo map/it in the manifold...
I will have to see if there are multiple MAP PIDs available to datalog.

Mine has an IAT sensor on the charge pipe just before the TB. There is also one on the manifold(MAP I'm guessing), and one on the intake tube after the filter.
... then 2015+ should have IAT IAT1 IAT2 and IAT3 pids (versus 2011-2014).

Maybe ask Torrie @ Unleashed (post on his Forum) and he'll confirm or deny.

From a tuning perspective, the IAT in the manifold (with actual incoming heat from the engine) makes more sense than an lower temp IAT before a Throttle Body ... unless Ford now uses BOTH for tuning.

What you are showing is different than SCT and their Configs.

SCT does not have a CAT_T PID. I think your CAT_T is the SCT IAT1 PID, as you don't have that one. IAT is just ambient temp ... nothing to do with the intake.

I think your CAC_T reading is Ambient. Do you have a separate Ambient IAT on your device?

PS: I won't go into details but I do create special/custom Configs all the time for the SCT device (that a lot of guys use them here). As long as there is a REAL sensor there, then I can get a reading off that PID. Example, there is an Oil Pressure and Oil Temp PID but there is no sensor that goes to the PCM ... there for I cannot read it. I can double check, but on SCT I have never seen a CAC_T PID.

The best way to test the validity of that CAC_T sensor (and reading) is to remove it and leave outside. The temp should go to Ambient Temp when removed. When returned, it should return to the proper temp.

Also, if you are reading Ambient/IAT, you can check the validity of the readings. No IAT reading can be less than outside Ambient Air temp after a few moments of operating (excluding using Meth Injection).

But I will check my Shop Manual when I have time to see what ALL sensors in the Intake are and where located.

I checked my manual and the sensor on the CAC outlet to the TB is a combination Turbocharger Boost Pressure/CAC Temp Sensor. What it's usefulness for tuning is interesting, because if SCT doesn't define it - then SCT tuners/devices aren't using it for tuning decisions???

It could be a "check sensor" to ensure all the other sensors used for tuning are operating within norms. And/or there are no leaks from the CAC to the Intake Manifold.

Again, Torrie McPhail may be an interesting person to ask to see what importance it has in tuning.
