i have heard some mention by others that they had cat problems and blamed condensation on their failure !
can someone explain what this condition is and what the cause is some for me.
just cinfused and curious.


the intercooler is inline with air intake not exhaust so even if the cooled air condensed it would still go through combustion, then the turbo and finally to the cat
i am thoroughly confused how the cat would have been effected !

Engine misfire is what damages the cat.

Inter-cooler condensation can cause a sudden water ingestion into the engine. This water causes the cylinder to miss fire. During the miss fire the computer asks for more fuel. More fuel is injected and due to the miss fire this extra fuel is unburned in the cylinder and burns in the exhaust catalyst which can melt the substrate and destroy the catalytic converter(s).
