I'm taking the time off to do some overdue maintenance on my truck. Need to change fluids - oil, front diff, transfer case. Then going to install new plugs and pull the rear blocks. So far our camping for summer hasn't been affected by park closings, but we'll see. With the communal showers/bathrooms I certainly expect they will start asking people to cancel. I don't think they can legally keep a campground with large groups of people open without operating facilities. Still a pretty fluid situation but we'll see. Completely on telework until May 1st so far..
Our Parks have been shut down. Not a huge impact to me, because we will be camping in the bush somewhere away from others.

I’m in aviation construction, the impacts are looking devastating. Airlines have seen drop in travel demands so much of the expansions are getting cut or postponed.

I live in South Florida with 2 airports and cruise ports driving the economy. Both industries seem shot for the near term. We had a big transportation sales tax and without tourists driving sales the 3rd revenue stream appears to be drying up.

We are getting mixed messages from employers, clients, local and federal government.

I’ve lost a significant amount of my retirement. Our families backup income was my wife as a realtor, which will likely take a hit.

I’m definitely impacted and concerned.

MN is shutting down. I have a letter from work so I will be good to go. Sucks for a lot of other people though. My wife is working at home right now. Our in home daycare will probably close for now so my wife may get crazy.

They just announced that our school closure is extending till at least May 1. They have not even given it the two week closure that they had originally planned before they make this decision. No acknowledgement of whether or not this is getting better or worse ... just a decision that they have closed it. I am so angry with our government right now ... Talk to us. Tell us why ... not just because of Coronavirus, because we are already seeing reports out of LA County that the teenager who died was miscategorized as a Coronavirus fatality. Italy is reporting the same thing ...

Yes, this is a serious event, but .... ugh ... ranting ... thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear all the AG. You didn’t say whether you need your retirement anytime soon. Remember after the Spanish flu ain 1918 I’m pretty sure the 50 million people died from that, and then we had the roaring 20s. And after the great financial crisis in 2008, we had a 10 year expansion. I know my wife and I are on a 15-20 year time horizon so we ended up buying some Boeing stock which might quite possibly turn out to be one of the better investment opportunities in my lifetime. I think the airlines will return but it’s going to take 2 to 4 years but they will return. Again sorry to hear and for many Americans it might be really rough right now.

To be fair, this isn't just the current leadership. This has been going on for a few different presidencies, both blue and red, and it's one symptom of a bigger problem. Witness all the people who are willing to trust an actress/porn star/loudmouth over some of the best medical professionals the planet has to offer about vaccinating their children.
You might be right. As of now our leadership is red. I remember going through the 2008 crisis, and I don’t remember as much obfuscation and denial. Again since it was over 10 years ago my memory may have faded or become selective a bit.

I do remember there was a huge backlash against the bail out which if I remember correctly was about 800 billion. That was characterized as socialism run amok. And yet, now that the other team is in power, we’re literally more than doubling the bail outs. I’m not saying we should or shouldn’t have a bailout, but what I really want is as much honesty and transparency and forthright speaking as possible.

Park City area right?
That was to me?

Im in Oakley, about 20 min east of Park City. My guess is a huge portion of the cases are in PC though since so many domestic and international travelers were coming in to ski.

I hear you, and you're right. But no way am I going to quit riding my motorcycle.
Pshhh that's not risky behavior. I am talking about the "wheelies past triple digits" crazy like snake mentioned. Besides, if you're good with making your own tourniquet and sewing skin, who needs a hospital. It's the drugs that are harder to get these days, Jack just doesn't cut it for me.

Sorry friend, "honesty and transparency" just isn't what mankind has experienced from government, regardless of how far you go back in history, or what country, kingdom, empire you are study.

We may be experiencing the most recent and modern version of the phenomena, but in some sense nothing really unique.

What is unique, perhaps, is the current citizen has MORE instantaneous interface with their leaders/rulers than ever. The shear quantity of........ can I call it propaganda (?)...... daily, hourly, by the minute even, has never existed before.

I can't process it well or fast enough to take on the challenge. So I usually don't.
But my normal avoidance methods can't drown out the current noise level. It's cranked up to the max! And perhaps the largest captured worldwide audience of all time?

Exhausting

Getting real stir crazy guys. But I have a two year old and a four year old and I am very thankful to have this time to spend and bond with my kids. In this day and age that is a luxery most never get.
I don't wanna talk politics but what others have said. If your transparent, honest, do what you think is best for our country and not just for your political future, and willing to accept responsibility however your decisions turn out you will have my respect.

Our county just shut down all non-essential businesses until may 1. That means my sons daycare is closing and the owner is seriously worried about being able to pay her expenses. Not sure whats gunna happen but we will be pretty boned if they go under.

We had pulled our son out already but still paid while they were open. She is asking $100/month to hold spots but i have a feeling some people just are not gunna pay. My wife and I are talking about if we should pitch in some extra to help just so they can at least pay the rent.

Surprisingly, the liquor stores will remain open.

Our daycare is privately owned. She is a single mom with a child with special needs that I have taught for 5 years. She is only open during the school year. We agreed to pay her until summer which we normally do. We decided we would pay all people that depend on us financially (cleaning lady etc) regardless if they are able to provide services or not. I figure these will be the people affected the most. Not all can do this because of obvious reasons but luckily as teachers we are being paid despite not currently in school.

I have plenty of time until retirement (20 yrs) and yes it should recover. Just wish retirement funds were safer. Stimulus bill is supposed to provide airports funding to offset this years losses maybe keep projects going.

The quicker people quit panicking the better. Doctors seem to be encouraging a decent response saying stay home for 2 weeks (I agree this shouldn’t be everywhere, but major cities it is.). Politicians are reluctant to follow the advice.

Hopeful for good doctors, smart scientists to figure out some vaccines/remedies.

I’m a JLR technician. We just got split into teams and you aren’t aloud to go in on your day off our congregate with others on the other team that way we can keep the dealership open. So now I work 3 days a week, our appointments have been cut in half. I’ve been at home with my family the last 5 days, it’s been great except the stir crazy my kids haven’t left the house in 10 day’s. Our hardest hit county(most cases of the virus) is where most of the high dollar people live and I work on high end cars. My wife had an auto-immune disease that is almost completely under control. It’s starting to get real. I’ve always had doubts to the facts and seriousness of this virus, to many holes to many coincidences. We have some reserve and lots of people I know need their cars worked on so I guess Might have to revert to side income. Our state was just considered stay at home, only essential places of work open. All this time off and I cannot even take our TT out and go camping now!😕

The Denver Mayor said the liquor stores and Mary Jane dispensaries were going to shut down. After long lines formed within 15 minutes, that portion was rescinded.

Well we're quarantined (stay at home) in my county in Texas. It will be the longest my truck has set idle. My wife and I are (thankfully) working virtually. One of my kids and her boyfriend are jobless, hit by the closures. The recovery act will help them. We are lucky and fortunate so far. I'm supposed to be retiring this year by June 1st, so I pray I do not get sick before I officially sign my papers. Damn I've worked so hard to have it go down to this. But for now things are ok.

Listening to a citywide radio show about how schools are going to respond to the crisis as it seems to be going longer than anticipated. So far food delivery or pick has been suspended. We still have to provide work for students, and parents have to come to the school to pick up work (albeit busywork, since no one will be picking up any papers from students).

My truck is as clean as it has ever been! There's only so much armor-all and wax one can put on!
