I have run all the vacuum tests and the lines/check valve/solenoid/reservoir are all good. Here is what happened:

Truck not running and I applied a 25psi vacuum on the IWE line...then jacked truck to rotate wheels and make sure the hubs were disengaged and the wheel spun free. The driver side spun free and hubs were disengaged, with no vacuum loss. However, the passenger side WAS NOT disengaged, and the wheels DID NOT spin freely (they rotated the half shaft)...BUT, the line was STILL HOLDING the 25 psi vacuum. So, a 25psi vacuum was applied to the hub and holding, but it would not disengage.

I decided to test it with the truck running and in 2H and got the same results (expected).

What would be the reason for line HOLDING the vacuum, but the hub not disengaging?????

Your iwe is probably broken, the rubber gets old and cracks on them. Just replace it.
Thanks for the reply. I understand the rubber gets old on these and they break. But, when the rubber breaks the line loses vacuum. In this case the line is holding 25psi and the hub will not disengage. What causes that?

The plastic ring inside there is broken. You need to replace the hub actuator. I just did this on my truck. Held vacuum but wouldn’t disengage.

OK, thanks for the reply. It definitely needs replaced. Just been reading about all the vacuum loss issues...and this IS NOT a vacuum loss issue. Good to hear form somebody that had the same issue. Thanks again!

What boostking said. Just get them at advanced auto (warn brand) and get a lifetime warranty instead of motorcraft (also warn brand) w/2yr warranty. Or cap them.
