Just bought a 2017 F150 XLT 2.7 Ecoboost - wondering if I got a good deal

Hey guys, I just make the leap and bought a new 2017 Ford F150 XLT SuperCrew 2.7L Ecoboost 4x2, Race Red and I'm wondering if I got a good deal or just average. Its got the 302A package, Sport Appearance package, Trailer Towing package, Sync 3, Sync Connect, Voice-Activated Navigation, Side Step Bars, Electronic Locking with 3.31 Axle Ratio, Reverse Sensing System, and I got them to throw in the window tint and spray in bedliner for free (around $1000 retail value). There were some big incentives ($5,250 rebate), and it was their "ad truck" on sale.

Initial sticker at $46,620, added the dealer tint and spray bed liner for $950 brings the total MSRP $47,570.
With MSRP rebates of $2500 total for the sport package and navigation, final MSRP of $45,070.
I ended up paying $33,500 sale price.
Around $14070 off MSRP with all the discounts & rebates included.

With tax, title, doc, registration fees = $37,500 out the door. No trade in.

I have never bought a new vehicle before, but I have really wanted a truck for a long time, and the F150 stood out to me. So now i am just trying to mentally justify my purchase. ;) Thanks for any opinions and help reasoning through this.

Here's my sticker. Note that it doesn't show the window tint ($399) or spray in bedliner ($549) which was added at the time of transaction (for free with some negotiation skills :D)

Well, you certainly didn't get screwed. I'd say it was a good buy, even though you ended up with the baby boost. :p

Did you have a positive equity trade-in or was that all just discounted price?

The 3.5 is nice, but the 2.7 is quick and fine for me. I won't be doing any serious towing, just using the truckbed from time to time and maybe hooking a trailer up once in a while. I didn't trade anything in, it was all discounted price.

I guess for comparison I should ask, what did you guys pay for your truck along with which options?

I think you did great, a bit better then me honestly.

I'm also a first time truck buyer. Traded in my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder SL Hybrid with Tech Package @ 44k miles for a 2017 2.7L F-150 STX Supercrew with a 6.5 foot bed. Oddly enough, I had averaged just under 29 MPG with the Nissan after three years of driving, but am averaging a shade under 27 MPG with the F-150 after a few days of commuting, so I don't think I lost much in mileage. The F-150 is also a hair cheaper to insure, which was also a pleasant surprise.

Original Window MSRP: $42,630.
Sticker Package Discounts: $2,000.
Ford Rebates & Incentives: $5,500
Dealer Discounts: $4,135
Final Online Price: $30,995

I got the bigger bed & 20" wheels, but you got the nicer equipped truck with the Nav (which I wasn't crazy about honestly...GoogleMaps on the Android works just fine for me), the Chrome Package, and some other XLT goodies. And in the tint and bed-liner, and I think you did great. Had I to do it all over again, I probably would've gotten a slightly better equipped one, but my payment through the credit union once I move the loan from FMCC will be in the $325/month range. I'll have plenty of spare cash to add pieces/customize, or just pay extra on the principal if I want. I'm not a big believer in paying interest on accessories or Option Packages you can add later, and cheaper, in the after market, so I try to stick with more basic vehicles when I can.

Congrats on the new ride....sounds awesome.

I think you did good.

I bought 2016 2.7 super crew in November. 302a, FX4 4x4 sport.

My OTD was 38,700-ish

Yours is a twin of my 2016. Mine stickered at $45K or so and I was out the door with TTL at $37,500 with a Rhinoliner, full tint and all season mats. No regrets.

10K off is not bad at all. That's 1K more than what i saved when i picked up my XL superbeast (35K MSRP 26K my cost) with a handful of factory options.
Its a lot of money for anything but that's a lot of vehicle and as long as you're happy with it that's all that matters.

You got a great deal too. By the way, are you still averaging 27 MPG? That's really awesome, I'm averaging around 19.5 over the past 450 miles, probably 60% freeway miles and really trying hard to accelerate gently and smoothly to preserve fuel. I wish I was getting better mileage like you are, whats your secret? :cool:

I special ordered my Platinum (max tow, non-nav, screw 6.5' bed 2WD). Sticker was 49,XXX and I paid 40,XXX OTD. I could've done a tad better buying one off of the lot but I wanted a very specific truck that literally did not exist in the entire country at the time. I made a huge down payment (over 50%) but I didn't tell them that until I picked up the truck and finalized the paperwork. I didn't want that to deter them from negotiating with me.

My last two vehicles were hybrids, so driving with max fuel economy in mind is mostly second nature by now. If I were to pinpoint one single secret, its to never remove your foot from the accelerator unless braking or coasting. Keeping consistent speed is much better then gassing it, removing your foot, gassing it, removing your foot, etc. And no, I didn't maintain 27 MPG....my first tank came back at roughly 25.5 MPG, and that's with lots of around-town driving, and even a 15 minute wait to pick up dinner at Applebees last night while the truck was on, and the A/C blasting. I'm hoping to do a little better this tank, and I'll start by running the tires at a a few PSI above recommended pressure, which despite common held belief, actually helps the wear on the tread be more consistent.

Are you happy? That's all that counts. You bought it so you must have thought it was a good deal. Shouldn't matter what I think. There will always be naysayers if you look hard enough.

Which AutoNation did you buy from? I dealt with two in Texas and a third here in Florida. Bought from the Corpus Christi one. The dealer sucked. Bought straight from the sales manager and it took nearly a month to get it all set up. They tried to charge me for the bed liner and tint there too but I told them I wasn't going to so they folded. Anyway, your deal is really good, I wouldn't sweat it. They'll sell one similar to yours in a month or two for maybe a few hundred less but who cares? If you're happy, that's all that matters.
