just ordered weathertech didgital floor mats tonight in black, front and rear...

What is the shock on the tailgate for? Seems like it would push it open but the tailgate is already pretty light and comes down naturally. Sorry, I've just never seen one place there like that

It's a tailgate assist shock, it slows the tailgate from free dropping when you unlatch it. Takes the weight of the tailgate when lowering it too, handy for someone that may find the gate heavy.
