Well guys, my long awaited dream has come to fruition. Received the stage 2s and my box of parts from Tasca all in one day while I was up skiing. Got back and got to work on the truck. It was so time consuming just getting setup, gawking at the turbos, jacking the truck up, removing the wheels and wheel well liners. Removing all the plumbing, undoing the downpipe nuts and pushing it back just enough to let the downpipe/turbo gasket fall out and draining the dang coolant. But, soon I was removing the lines for the turbo, replaced all the seals that I needed to, (I didn’t end up taking some of the lines off of the head, I just left them be. But all the connections to the turbo got brand new seals, and I did replace the oil line with the non serviceable filter. All in all it is going really well, I was able to install the driver side turbo. Haven’t moved to the passenger side yet, but so far so good, and I haven’t broken anything.

here’s a couple photos of the turbos and project so far. I am extremely impressed with how beautiful the turbos got cleaned up, CRP did a wonderful job. View attachment 176953

Yeah, you’re right. It’s kinda complicated to explain. I’m just saying that these turbos are in vacuum at times when my old turbos were in boost. It’s just amazing. My stock turbos were fully spooled at 2200 rpm, but these aren’t fully spooled till like I wanna say 3000 rpm. But before it gets to 3000 rpm, the power doesn’t feel less than the stock turbos it actually feels even more powerful. Also, the truck doesn’t fall on its face after 4700 rpm. It just keeps pulling hard all they way to 6200 rpm. Quite amazing.
Video or its not real.....Lol

Little update, on my way to work I gave her a little throttle (more than a little) and it pumped out 31lb/min with 11-12 psi. On my stock turbos it took 19 psi to have 31lb/min and on the stage 2s it took 16 psi. Pretty amazing. Wonder what they’ll do with 21 or 22 psi.
Thats very respectable

In my high school years we had Mitsubishi Eclipses (Eagle Talons), Nissan 300z Turbos, and Subaru WRX’s were just coming onto the scene.

I was lucky enough to have friends with each and let me drive them.

Yup, THAT was turbo lag. But the lag is what made it comically exciting as a kid!!

Nothing…. Nothing…. Nothing…
Whoa….. too much… TOO MUCH!!!

Man,I miss my 89 conquest TSI and 91 Dodge Stealth Turbo,,,, Lol you brought back some crazy memories, Then I ended up with a Grand National....... thought I was IT ,,,,,,, MAN THE CAR THAT GOT AWAY..... I should have never sold that car......

Ok, small update, for those of you who saw my rolling coal thread, I returned to stock tune today. It does not blow any smoke at all. Working with Torrie on his tune at the moment so that’s good.

Anyway, the stage 4 turbos on the stock tune run so good…. Truck made 29lb/min on only 5-8 psi. It spiked initially to 11 psi but as rpm went up it lowered boost to keep horsepower at the target amount and at the peak it was making like 5-7 psi with 29 lb/min. Just tells you how much more air volume the stage 4s have. Crazy.

You make me want to upgrade turbos!!! Well, I a relieved that it may be a tuning issue and not something mechanical or internal..... Still wishing the best outcome for ya!

Thanks man! Haha yeah, if I had a gen 3 3.5 I probably still would upgrade the turbos, but the gen 3 has big enough turbos to make ample horsepower. The 2.7 in my opinion has way too small of a turbo.
I know, but to say I have upgraded turbos would be cool,,,,,,, LOl Yup, I am not going farther than I am now, E50 dialed in and call it a day...... Drive and enjoy, If I can't be happy with a very low 12 sec truck, then I need help!

Yeah I hear ya. Well I guess I need help then lol. If I was in your shoes I’d have a much harder time justifying larger turbos than I would in my situation.
Way to talk me out of aftermarket turbo upgrades.... Lol

I am interested to hear your thoughts on the muffler and to actually hear a video of it

Well, I gotta figure out how I’m gonna do it first, but right now I’m thinking putting the magnaflow in place of the Corsa and then driving it and seeing what it sounds like. I’m going to keep the Corsa muffler of course just in case I want it back on there.
That is what I would do
