Vaseline and plastidip might be your friend then.

Vaseline where you don't want plastidip to stick(i.e. tight spaces on the fender emblems, qtips are your friend) and spray away.

Ummmm I don’t really know what your talking about, forgive my ignorance, is there a video or something you can show me?

This guy does it without Vaseline and uses a toothpick to remove the extra stuff.
But yea, do it like the video.

And if you don't like it, Turtle Wax Bug and Tar Remover will get rid of the plastidip without hurting anything else.

Ok, I’ll check out the video. Where do you get that plasti dip?

I agree and no kidding on being a fast learner. It took me 4 days to decide to just swap an antenna and 4 weeks to paint an exhaust tip black.

Thanks. I’m a little unhappy with how the fender badges turned out, but it’s cool cuz I could rip it off at some point and start over.

Hahaha, well, when I get an idea in my head, I am driven to get it done. I would like to paint my exhaust tip black as well. What did you use? High temp paint?

Yes I used Rustoleum high heat ultra semi gloss black for BBQ’s and such. I found it at Home Depot and it had a higher temp rating than the high heat paints at the auto parts stores. Somewhere around 1200* I recall.
Since I was painting a 3 year old chrome tip I first cleaned and degreased then wet sanded it to have a surface for the paint to adhere to.
I used numerous thin coats literally every few days over 4 weeks. It was a naturally baked on finish from the Texas sun.

PS. The paint comes in white too if you really want to do something unique!

Nice. I’ll have to look into that cuz that chrome tip is a bit bold now that all my chrome is gone.

Uh yeah, no. Haha no white exhaust tips haha

That's how I painted my tip too. Wet sanded with a bunch of different grits till the finish was smooth and consistent, then sprayed and let it dry. I sanded between coats too, but I had time on my hands.

Pics of the emblems without the masking?

Dude that looks sick. I spent $200 on custom badges (not here yet), but now I kinda wish I had just bought a can of plastidip.
Yeah I wish I did it sooner.

Looks awesome Matt!!

What say you on the quality of the door handles?
A match for the originals?

I have too much chrome to get rid of, but I’d like to do the handles. They stand out like warts.

Also, post up a zoomed out shot or 2 of the whole truck!! Show it off.

I’m worried that the color of the handles aren’t exactly the same as the Oxford but we’ll see.
