Need to post an update.

I ceramic coated the whole truck today and needless to say it is so gorgeous. I love the Rapid Red Metallic.

Truck has been getting 26mpg on the highway on a 200 mile trip. I changed the spark plugs on her and will do the oil soon as I’m approaching the second change.

I’ve got a ford racing filter for it which I will start using instead of the oem filter.

I also have been running Brett’s tune but took it off now so I could datalog stock tune for him at the different elevation once I move again.

I was looking at random parts this evening and saw the 2021+ pistons are different and way more expensive than the 2.7L pistons. Fascinating to say the least. The 2.7 pistons are like 57$. The 2018 raptor piston is 101$ which is the high output version. Very interesting to say the least

Impressive MPG, and an A+ for the Ford Racing Filter

Whoa! Seriously? Why can’t ford just put forged rods and pistons in the Ecoboost as standard!!

That's why I didn't complain too much when EMS charged $1850 for a set of custom, coated Mahle pistons with rings and pins. Still cheaper than OEM. What I don't get is that an assembled, OEM shortblock from Ford is around $1700-1800. Complete with block, crank, rods, pistons, rings, bearings. But, if I buy the pistons by themselves separately, they are $2100!!!!

Could be that only maybe 5% of the owners even consider pushing power past 450 and most owners never even tinker with the maintenance but take it to a service shop or dealership. The forged parts are packaged with a much more costly engine/performance option. KM

True, but I’m just talking about engine longevity and ability to withstand detonation better if it happened.

I do understand but that has been the vehicle manufacture's stance as long as I have known. My 68 Z28 was an expensive option even then and beyond the suspension it upped the engine from the standard 327 2barrel 210 hp motor with cast innards to a 302 with all forged innards and accompanying parts 290 hp advertised but really closer to 425. Another potential reason is the quicker cylinder wear from forged pistons. The cost ratio from stock cast to forged has stayed nearly the same since for both factory and aftermarket parts. KM

Just because Ford Parts lists it as an expensive item, does not mean that is worth as much.

99% of the time it is because of short supply that the price is increased. Price will actually decrease over time as manufacturing becomes more efficient. But will skyrocket again once that part is no longer used in production.

This is true, and I was actually thinking about that. However I do believe the ST pistons are forged. Thats why they do cost a bit more whether the price is accurate or not.

“We’re sinking! We’re sinking!”

“What are you sinking about?”

I’ll tell you what I’m sinking about, I’m sinking about these!

He's resorted to nonverbal answers. The struggle in his head is that great right now 🤣🤣
Was talking to Full Race Geoff about a stage 2 kit they’re developing with better housings than stock turbos, so that sounds a lot more intriguing
