Just creating a new thread to discuss my next build plans after my 2016 2.7 Ecoboost blew up for those who might see this thread for the first time.

Heres a picture of the truck. Just want to put it here so it’s visible on the cover of this thread

Have you rigged up an oil pressure gauge? There will be a curve to pressure as these use a variable volume pump. Is there a problem with oil starvation? KM

I have an oil pressure channel on hp tuners. The main concern is oil pressure dip on launch. But everyone else has it too, I don’t think a handful of launches will cause a failure.

Have any actual figures on the drop?

A problem with F150 Ecoboost is the lack of hard parts made for them. An Accusump may work in this situation, but they come with a bunch of challenges. KM

Not much going on with the truck lately. Just driving it and having fun. Going to do a launch soon. I’m babying this truck more than my old one. But I do need to do a launch or two to test out everything.

Helped a ford tech buddy today modify his Explorer ST with the full lineup of CVF parts that I got him for free. Got to work in the big shop, and it was awesome!

Launched the truck today. Traction bars worked amazing. It had some spark issues mid pull during the 1/4 mile, like around the 1/8 mile I think, and then hit limp mode right before the 1/4 mile. Ran a 12.73 at 102
Probably would have been a 12.60 at 106 if it hadn’t gone to limp mode. Tune needs work though. Shifts weren’t great either.

This broke my record. No popping sound, no limp mode. I had e20-e30 in the tank during this pull. Tune had not been adjusted since the last time I tried. I am not positive but that was either spark blowout I was hearing or knock. Either way, this proves that increasing octane makes the issue go away. What are y’all’s thoughts?

I think that its impressive. Your super high elevation / da of 10k+ should reduce your octane requirement to a degree.

I don't have e-85 close to me, but I usually fill up multiple 5 gallon cans and a 30 gallon tank (with hand pump meant for filling boats etc) when I make the 2 hour trip for more. I'm still on the stock injectors, so I am limited to the qty of E in my blend. It does quite well around E30.

Are you anywhere near Telluride? I'm head over there in September for an elk hunt.

Little update.

Im going to get 6, 5 gallon gas cans and fill them up with e85 at the station that is 1.5 hours away from me. Then I will put 10 gallons of e85 in and that will last me a month and a half before I have to go get more. 10 gallons of e85 will give me an e30 mixture.

Also, I’m in a Ram Hurricane group on Facebook and I think one of the reasons those trucks are so quick off the line is the fact that the inline 6 is torquey, and the guys getting 3.6 0-60 have 3.92 gearing. I have seen what they do on the top end and it lacks a bit compared to the Ecoboost v6. Also from what I’ve seen, the Hurricane turbos’ turbine is pretty stinking small, and has a lot of blades. That equals quick spool, and not to mention that they are running 20+ psi of boost. The Ecoboost doesn’t run as quick 0-60 stock vs stock, but the 3.5 stock has bigger turbos, and runs 14-15 psi of boost, and that number is peak, down low. Up in high rpm’s the Ecoboost lets boost fall down. Not sure what the hurricane boost curve looks like but I doubt it falls as much.

Truck looked amazing today so I snapped a picture.

Also I went to Farmington and picked up 30 gallons of e85. This will last me 3 whole tanks. Usually one tank lasts me two weeks. So this should last me a month and a half.

Ok, prepare for some stupidity. Loaded Adams new tune revision for my e30 mix. In the log it didn’t appear to me as though he increased timing at all. But, he fixed shifting and it is amazing now. This is in sand mode, which in my truck is set up as drag mode.

You can see my first attempt was 12.35 at 106 because I was retarded and let off early. So mad at myself. Oh well. Based on what the second run did (it was slower, and trap speed wasn’t trending as high as the first run was on the graph) I think the first run would have trapped 111 or close to 112. Anyways, pretty pleased with these results and I honestly don’t care to keep running it much. I’m going to go check the log and compare to the old 91 logs to see if he increased timing at all.

Just doing some quick math, my first run trapped 102.02 at the 1000’. Second run trapped 100.91. So, I subtracted the difference from 100.91 to 110.17 on my second run and added that number to 102.02 and it would have trapped 111.28 on that first run. Amazing.
