So I’m kinda concerned about spool, but then I realized something.

This is the same turbine and the same turbine size as I had on my 2.7 on the turbos from Turbobay, and they spooled slowly, although after tuning it was much better.

But, that was a 2.7, and this time I have a 3.5L

Also, the setup I had on my 2.7 was a much bigger compressor wheel, 50/65mm

On the turbos coming for my 3.5, it’s a 46.5/56mm, essentially the same size as the CRP Stage 4s. So I’m thinking spool won’t be too horrible, probably not as bad as my 2.7 was, but probably a little slower than the stage 4s. I’m ok with that. The setup on my 2.7 was sadly too laggy, boost wasn’t coming in solid till 4500 or so.

Look what showed up today… guess I know what I’m doing this weekend. Need to pick up some coolant, and then I’ll be ready for this project! Can’t wait to see how they spool

I will say, this is the same turbine and the same diameter as I had in my huge turbos that were on my 2.7L

But it’s funny because in photos it doesn’t look as big as it does in person, and the one in my 2.7L turbos looked bigger but it was because the turbine housing was smaller and so it just looked bigger inside there.

The swap begins

I measured the donut gasket that replaced the 2011-2020 turbo adapters and its opening is 73mm. @motorhead1991 said the oem turbo adapters are 60mm opening. So this donut is much larger, and to be honest, couldn’t be any bigger because it sits flush with the inside of the turbo.

Wow, what a night it’s been. It’s 11:30pm and I’m done for the night. I got the passenger side turbo installed so that’s good. But, I had to grind off one of the turbo bolts because it was too tight, I snapped a socket trying to remove it and eventually the bolt was too rounded over. So i just ground it off. I hope the other side isnt that bad. Also was fighting with those dang coolant lines, and the oil drain line. Good grief what a pain. This is the last time I’m removing the turbos on this truck.

I'll second that
After today’s shenanigans… you better believe me. Let’s just say I forgot to disconnect the battery, and I touched the starter to the oil drain line in the turbo with my screwdriver on accident and it sparked. Later on after I had everything installed I drove down the road and oil was blasting everywhere. Pulled it back in the garage, took the drain line off and found a hole where I had fried it with the screwdriver. Replaced it with a new drain line that I hadn’t installed cuz I didn’t really need to, and now there’s no leaks. I also broke 3 12mm sockets, destroyed a brand new breaker bar, and had to grind two turbo bolts off cuz they were too tight.

Your point :ROFLMAO:

Glad your about finished and ready for some updates on performance!
