Yeah I know, but when 2000+ people are following the journey things are much more affordable. However, we will see what happens, I’m not sure I like the idea of modifying (to the level of built motor) my daily driver, so I might be looking into a race truck body to build up.
Makes the most sense to my now conservative nature. I have no business keyboard coaching you here. I had a bunch of different vehicles I used for daily drivers (these were always cherry) for both my wife and me.
I'd have a hot 408 CID lifted F150, my Poison Pinto that surprised many pony cars, a Turbo Bonneville SSEI, Celica GT or Several Lincoln Town Cars, Mercury Cougar, 68 GT Mustang, Saleen Mustang. They were all very nice cars, but I went through them rather quickly, either when I needed money for an upgrade on an existing project or just came across another even better vehicle without having to pay out of pocket. It's amazing what you see when you are in the repair business and cars that become available. I was never car poor, but insurance was quite a work of art.
That said, I used to keep two 70 Mach 1's in a very long storage shed. I would have one of those Mustangs race ready at any time while working on the next best thing for the other.
These were both very hot Cleveland powered cars. They were very similar, in performance parts. I'd roll the latest and greatest out and start working on the one that had been used most recently, and then reverse the process.
I was patient as there was only so much money to put towards a hobby, but I was always open to the latest and greatest parts as the came available. There was always an upgrade I could be making on one while the other was ready to drive. This was a system that worked very well for me.
