Matt’s differentiator is in the uniqueness.

First with the 2.7 and now the gen3 3.5.

Everyone has seen a Whipple’d Coyote at this point.

I say let the man cook.

Only one man that needs to justify it.

Yeah I know, but when 2000+ people are following the journey things are much more affordable. However, we will see what happens, I’m not sure I like the idea of modifying (to the level of built motor) my daily driver, so I might be looking into a race truck body to build up.
Makes the most sense to my now conservative nature. I have no business keyboard coaching you here. I had a bunch of different vehicles I used for daily drivers (these were always cherry) for both my wife and me.

I'd have a hot 408 CID lifted F150, my Poison Pinto that surprised many pony cars, a Turbo Bonneville SSEI, Celica GT or Several Lincoln Town Cars, Mercury Cougar, 68 GT Mustang, Saleen Mustang. They were all very nice cars, but I went through them rather quickly, either when I needed money for an upgrade on an existing project or just came across another even better vehicle without having to pay out of pocket. It's amazing what you see when you are in the repair business and cars that become available. I was never car poor, but insurance was quite a work of art.

That said, I used to keep two 70 Mach 1's in a very long storage shed. I would have one of those Mustangs race ready at any time while working on the next best thing for the other.

These were both very hot Cleveland powered cars. They were very similar, in performance parts. I'd roll the latest and greatest out and start working on the one that had been used most recently, and then reverse the process.

I was patient as there was only so much money to put towards a hobby, but I was always open to the latest and greatest parts as the came available. There was always an upgrade I could be making on one while the other was ready to drive. This was a system that worked very well for me.

I'm just saying this for simplicity's sake, if you have one vehicle and are chasing speed then IMO the 5.0 with a twin turbo kit will be much simpler of a project vs building a 3.5 from the ground up and chasing that speed. I get you're going for the uniqueness aspect but the 5.0 has been proven to be reliable for a DD even at absurd levels of HP 800+

If it's not your dd then have at it, I just think you're risking a lot of time and money trying to get a 3.5 to compete with a TT 5.0 that has gobs of potential...the 3.5 even fully built would be stressed IMO at 5.0 TT Power Levels or not even get there

Totally, but if you funding it with supplementing it with YT views and find a passion you like. Sometimes its better to be different when you applying to get free/discounted parts. Everyone's built a 5.0 TC/SC application.

I'm not saying I could do it (I'm going to be more conservative with Daily Drivers going forward), but I know Matt can do it.

Agreed on the 5.0 approach being simpler. A Rivian Quad Motor would be faster and simpler still and yet... not interesting and the YT views wouldn't be there.

From a "business" standpoint, many more people have the 3.5 and therefore this would be more relatable content - in theory, more views.

And as we all know, it starts for everyone with "maybe I'll just get a tune for it..."

I got a lot of jabs for racing a 302 back in the 1970's. All my buddies went large but I stayed with the mouse motor, it was especially fun when I hole shot those big block guys and lead them thru the traps! Something satisfying to crank up a small engine to unexpected levels. KM

Agreed for Matt yes, for me a 5.0 TT makes more sense if chasing power.

Go to 3:20, that's such a beautiful sound and makes it worthwhile alone

That's actually a little bit longterm scary to me.
Now for Saturday Night time slips? Sure.

But on my daily, that's like taking up smoking. 😁
It won't kill you fast. And it can be very satisfying. But those lungs definitely collect some garbage and it's a lousy way to go out.

You both have lost me... (which isn't hard).
Are we saying not to run S&B filters?
I thought those were an improvement in filtration over a K&N?

The cotton gauze, oiled filter does not filter as well as a standard paper filter.

S&B is high quality. I like to replace the filter every so often as opposed to washing it since it’s reusable. I’d prefer to just spend the extra money and replace it with a new one each time.

Ah, got it fellas. This is the first truck I haven't run an intake on, but if I did I'd go S&B, so just making sure.

Also going to figure out a way to bring the exhaust out the side with two pipes. I think I have a plan, I’ll post when I do it.
After I do that, I’ll be getting a meth kit also.
